Home Decor: Small Changes That Ooze Luxury

Share

When you think about luxury, the first thing that pops into your mind is the dollar bills that come flying out of your account – often leaving behind a regret-sized hole in your bank account.

But luxury living is not necessarily about splashing the cash – although the more you have, the easier it is  – it’s more about making use of style, textures, and spaces to create the feeling of luxury living.

Read on to see how the small changes you can make around your home will help it ooze luxury in no time.

Spacious Is Luxurious

Spacious homes give that air of luxury right as your walk through the door. There’s something about an open plan, bright, fresh home that seems luxurious – that’s perhaps why open-plan living spaces are becoming more of a trend. Spacious living spaces cross over with the minimalistic interior design trend.

However, luxurious living spaces used in the home should be filled with bold features, like grand oak coffee tables, plush leather corner sofas, and striking fireplaces that wows anyone that enters the room.

If you Google celebrity living spaces, you’ll notice most of them have crisp neutral tones combined with bold features – like a grand piano, or feature wall with a giant art piece, or even a rustic country theme.

The point is, minimalistic spaces should still have bold features that make an impact. Consider moving furniture around, removing items you don’t need like unnecessary tables, and opening up the space you have to work with.

Small Accessories With A Big Impact

Going even smaller – sometimes, it’s the seemingly unimportant accessories that have the best impacts. Consider lighting fixtures and the effect they have, especially ceiling fixtures.

Some grand ceiling light covers like a translucent beaded cover transcend luxury – the same can be said about the statement lampshades at Penny Morrison. The class and style coming from the two is a winning combination – combining high-end luxury at affordable prices.

Another small (ish) accessory that’s becoming trendy to have in the living room is a huge floor-length mirror.

Floor-length mirrors are very on-trend and are a statement feature in themselves. Gold-lined grand floor-length mirrors are a high-impact accessory that’d look great in any living room.

Bold Colours

Bold colors are in right now just as much as neutrals are, and both help a home ooze luxury. The bathroom is the perfect room to make colors work, and one luxurious interior design trend that seems to be popular at the minute is hand-painted mosaic tiles.

The idea originally stems from Portuguese cultures – especially hotels that use vibrant mosaic tiles to fill the room. Colors like blues and greens work really well in the bathroom, and the idea for a mosaic feature works well for a wall and even for a tiled bath.

Whether you have the money to spend or not, there are plenty of ways you can make your home look and feel luxurious. The high-end decor makes us feel valuable, house-proud, and sophisticated – and that isn’t reserved for people with money!
