Interested? Looking for a guide on how to make your home smell good all the time? If so, you’re at the right place. We’ll be going over a few things that you can do below.

Find out what they are by reading the rest of the post!

1. Refresh Your Carpets and Rugs

Carpets and rugs tend to absorb odors. For example, it’s not uncommon for them to absorb cooking smells or pet odors. Fortunately, there are ways to get them out.

For instance, you can use baking soda. Sprinkle a generous amount over the area and let it sit for at least 30 minutes; the powder will penetrate into the carpet fibers and neutralize any odors. Once time is up, vacuum as normal.

Or if you want, you can use a commercial carpet deodorizing product. Simply follow the instructions on the packaging.

2. Clean the Garbage Disposal

Keep your sink and kitchen odor-free by cleaning your garbage disposal regularly. Ideally, you want to do it once every 2-3 weeks.

And there are several ways that you can do it. One method involves pouring a large cup of ice cubes into the appliance. Switch the device on afterward and add one-half cup of salt. The two should grind away what’s left of the odor-causing residue.

Another option is to use baking soda. Turn the garbage disposal on and pour a cup of it down the hatch. Once you’ve done that, flush it with a cup of white vinegar.

Finally, you can use bleach. Pour a small amount down the disposal while running the cold water—it should help get rid of the smell.

3. Use an Essential Oil Diffuser

These devices will allow you to disperse essential oils into the air. All you have to do is add the oil into the diffuser—it’ll turn it into a diffused mist that’ll fill the area with a fragrant aroma.

Some of the most popular essential oils include lavender, jasmine, eucalyptus, rosemary, peppermint, and chamomile.

It’s also worth mentioning that some HVAC systems come with a fragrance diffuser. Take Aromatech’s Air Stream Single, for example, it can hold up to 2 half gallon jugs of aroma oil.

Knowing How to Make Your Home Smell Good

And there you have it—three ways on how to make your home smell good naturally. As you can see, there’s more than one thing that you can do, from refreshing your carpets to using an essential oil diffuser.
