Not Cleaning Your Carpet Might Be Putting Your Health at Risk

Share

A carpet in our houses is one the most essential and ubiquitous fixtures that we can find. Almost all houses have it, in one way or another. They come in a huge range of colors, from motley green to seaside yellow.

They also come in a lot of different fabrics, from old and droll linoleum to pashmina wool. There is no lack of variety when it comes to carpets.

But all carpets have the same sort of uses, be it in the house or office. Carpets make your home comfortable, warm and quiet. Carpets also look good in office space. They also have one thing in common; they get filthy really quickly.

What’s Inside Them?

Dust motes completely fill the interior of carpets. They act as a sort of dust collector since they cover a large area. This is because they are on the floor. Carpets have soft threads and weave that easily trap even more dust within them. This just makes the problem much worse.

Many things make up the dust motes in your carpet. Many gross things to be clearer. Shed skin cells, hair, food particles, mud, your pet’s hair, and even toxic microplastics make up these disgusting dust motes. These are definitely not the things that you want to breathe in on a regular basis.

What Can They Do?

Breathing in large amounts of clouds of dust, which also often contain allergens like pollen, can be really harmful to your health. If you are someone who breathes through your nose, then good news, it’s not that bad. The dust will just cause issues with your sinuses, throat, and lungs.

If you breathe through your mouth, which you shouldn’t, by the way, things can be much worse for you.

Since the air that goes inside your lung isn’t filtered when it goes through your mouth, you are opening yourself up to a whole host of problems like asthma, inflammation, and even fibrosis and immune disorders. None of which are particularly good options.

Dust belongs outside our lungs, not inside them. That is why we should always try to stay away from places that have a lot of particulate matter or wear a mask when in such areas.

While thankfully, the amount of time we were a mask has increased, most of us still aren’t going to be wearing masks in our homes.

What Should You Do?

Your best option is to clean your carpets regularly. And by regularly, we do mean periodically. Depending on your carpet size or the type of fabric, cleaning your carpet at home can be basically impossible and not feasible.

For cases like that, you should rely on professional services like Emerald Carpet Cleaning, which does carpet cleaning Dublin 6.

These services have the tools to make sure that your carpets are always clean and free from dust for a good period of time. So that way, you’re not killing yourself with dust.
