When you have a commercial building that is getting built or is getting the roof replaced, this is where commercial roofing comes in.

Commercial roofing is specifically designed to last a long time and be able to handle the demands of a building that is consistently used throughout the week. It also can be installed on large buildings.

But, when you need commercial roofing, you have a few different roofing options to choose from. So, let’s go over the types of commercial roofing that you can choose from so that you can make your decision.

These commercial roofing options are all popular choices for commercial buildings and offer the longevity that you are looking for. So, let’s get into the details.

Built-Up Roofing

This type of roofing is done by using multiple layers of materials like tar and gravel to create the roof.

This is a common choice for larger buildings that don’t want to deal with shingles and other roofs that could be broken easily. Also, with this option, you can choose to have whatever number of layers that you’d like.

So, if you want more protection for a large building, you can choose to have multiple layers for extra coverage.

Shingle Roofing

Though this option of roofing is seen mostly on residential buildings, it is an option for commercial roofing too. The main material used is asphalt, but for commercial buildings, architectural shingles are more appropriate.

This is because they are heavier and add a higher amount of weatherproofing. This is seen on sloped roofs for buildings that are typically a bit smaller in size.

Metal Roofing

Commercial metal roofing is very popular since it is an industrial style that suits industrial buildings. This type of roof is very durable and is great at handling extreme weather conditions.

It is also long-lasting and can often last over 60 years without needing replacement. The metals used are stainless steel, aluminum, Galvalume, zinc, and copper.

Single-Ply Membrane Roofing

This type of roofing is made from sheets of rubber material, or other types of synthetics, that are chemically adhered, mechanically fastened, or ballasted to insulation.

This creates a full layer of protection for the building. The pricing for this option can vary depending on the exact materials you choose and what kind of warranty you purchase.

Spray Polyurethane Foam Roofing

Spray Polyurethane Foam, or more commonly called SPF, is a popular roofing option for many industrial and commercial buildings. SPF is a liquid that is sprayed directly onto the building’s roof that will dry and turn into foam.

This makes a solid layer of foam that hardens along the entire roof. It can handle all types of weather and can even last about 50 years if you care for it correctly.

This is also a commercial roofing option that is much easier on the environment, which is a big draw for many businesses that are trying to keep their buildings and manufacturing processes more eco-friendly.
