5 Wallet-Friendly Tips to Improve Your Bathroom — Have you ever considered renovating your bathroom but been put off by the cost/time constraints/sheer size of the project? Or do you really want to change things but you’re just not sure what or where to even begin? Or is it that you’ve got loads of great ideas, but just not been able to get started because life just gets in the way?!

If all or any of the above apply to you then don’t worry because you are not alone, far from it in fact! Having a room as critical as the bathroom out of action for an extended period of time can be a huge challenge to work around, both in terms of using the thing, but also paying for it!

5 Wallet-Friendly Tips to Improve Your Bathroom

So, I’ve come up with a list of five things that you can do that can spruce up your bathroom that won’t break the bank and won’t leave you bathroom-less (well, not for too long…!).

1. Change Up Your Shower-Head

For me, nothing starts off my day better than a warm, powerful shower; it wakes me up and quote frankly is one of the only things to pull me out of a cozy bed!

Of course, it’s not just a simple as changing a shower head, there are so many different types out there, from massaging shower heads, to rain shower heads and combination hand-helds.

Now, I can’t tell you which one is best for you, that’s personal preference of course, but I can tell you that once you find the right one, your mornings (or evenings) will be changed forever!

Another reason you may want to think about changing your shower head is water hardness.Research suggests that hard water can be linked to cardio-vascular diseases, reproductive failure and other health issues. I would definitely recommend considering filter options for your shower if you live in a hard water area.

2. Invest in Some of Your Favourite Room Fragrances

With the bathroom being such a hub of activity; hold, cold, wet, dry and steamy, chances are it may not smell “cotton fresh” all the time. Whilst I’m not advocating just making the smell with a candle or two, some additional fragrances can ensure that your bathroom remain a welcome haven for the next use.

On top of a good extractor fan and decent cleaning products burning incense (safely), or scattering a few floating candles or larger glass contained candles around the bathroom can provide a relaxing and welcoming scent to your space – please remember to blow out or put out any candles or incense if you’re not near the room.

3. Install Some Under-cabinet Lighting

Rope lighting underneath your storage units can provide a cozy glow when all the other lights are out, and purchasing rope lighting can be done relatively cheap, can be installed by you (please be careful!) and doesn’t need the bathroom to be taken out of action for more than it takes to install the lighting – an hour maximum.

Additionally, if you have younger children, the lights can be left on overnight and provide a nice little night-light for those middle-of-the-night bathroom trips.

4. Make Everything Fluffy!

Big, clean fluffy towels are the ideal way to “wrap up” your shower. Not only do they feel great but also give your bathroom a “comforting” look – crazy at that may sound, it’s true!

Depending on the theme of your bathroom, you can go to town with the colours, either using them as a means to brighten up your bathroom, or if there is already quite a lot going on in there, use more neutral tones that will go with everything and not add too much more color to the mix.

Keep them fresh and fluffy by washing them regularly and using a good quality fabric softener and drying them in a tumble dryer if you have one.

5. Monochrome and Clutter-free

In my opinion, when it comes to the bathroom, less is more. Keep your surfaces as clear as possible, obviously you’ll need things out when you’re using them!

But, make use of cute and classy storage units that you can place on top of surfaces to keep the things in that you use on a daily basis. I personally like chrome baskets or black granite-looking pots to keep things in. Things that you don’t use all that often, put them in drawers or baskets in your cupboards, make space of all the storage you have to keep the surfaces clean, clear and classy.

Also my opinion, but I believe that monochrome bathrooms look the best. Black and white, or variations of those two colors across all your units and extras create a classic feel which can also bring a sense of calm and well-being to your space.
