1. Kitchenware

Eating out every night because you don’t have kitchenware is a mistake you don’t want to make. Take out food can add up pretty fast.

Buying kitchenware will probably take time unless you have the money right away for sets. Sticking to the basics at first will work just fine when you are considering things you need for your first apartment.

Some of the essential things you need for your first apartment when it comes to kitchenware include:

  • Plates and bowls
  • Pots and pans
  • Silverware
  • Drinking glasses
  • Cooking utensils
  • Garbage can

Over time, you can buy other items that aren’t necessarily the basics, such as oven mitts, dish towels, drying racks, baking sheets, oven-safe dishes, mugs, coffee makers, etc.

2. Cleaning Supplies

When making a list of things you need for your first apartment, you may not think of cleaning supplies right away. However, you may want these tools when you first move in and as time goes on.

When living in your own space, you will be more inclined to keep things sparkly clean. If you have never been the cleaning type, this cleaning service can get your apartment in top shape.

3. Bedroom Necessities

With all the things you need for your first apartment, you are probably most excited about your bedroom essentials. Moving into a new place means you can decorate it however you like. This could be the perfect time to change up your room.

If you don’t already have a mattress, that is a must. Other bedroom essentials include sheets, pillows, comforters, a lamp, dresser/storage, hangers, and a laundry hamper.

4. Bathroom Essentials

Bathroom essentials can be easy to forget when you are about to move into a new place. Luckily, you can just run to the nearest store to grab some things if you are out. You especially need to have basic toiletries like deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, body wash, etc.

If your new place doesn’t have a walk-in shower, you will need a shower curtain and liner. Don’t forget the bath towels! Some other things you need for your first apartment include bathmats, toilet brushes, a plunger, toilet paper, and a trash can.

5. Furniture

A new apartment would be incomplete without furniture. Moving into your first apartment can be expensive, so ignoring the little things you need for your first apartment when it comes to furniture is alright.

It is best to get the big things first like a couch, coffee table, and a dining table and chairs. Moving onto the little things after will make more sense when it comes to decorating.
