These Are the Different Types of Saunas for Your Home

But if you’re thinking of installing a sauna in your home then you need to be aware of the different types of saunas there are.

Yes, you read that right!

There are different types of saunas, but never fear, we’ve got you covered! Keep reading to find out more.

1. The More Traditional Sauna

This is the type of sauna we typically see in movies where the mafia boss sits in all his glory. But get that image right out of your head!

A traditional sauna can be absolutely beautiful inside your home.

Typically, a traditional sauna is lined with wood which makes it aesthetically pleasing to the eye. And, it’s all about the heat! Traditional saunas usually maintain the highest heat rating as opposed to other types of saunas.

How does a traditional sauna work? Well, you would find a bucket of water, a ladle, and some heated rocks. You use the ladle and water to regulate the humidity within the sauna, to adjust it to your own preference. The higher the heat, the less the humidity!

2. The Dry Sauna

Let’s jump right from humid to dry, shall we?

It’s basically the same as a traditional sauna, except we don’t add water. The temperature is typically lower than that of its counterpart.

A dry sauna can help with weight loss, although it’s not the right option if you’re looking for assistance in the respiratory system department. A dry sauna can be run with hot rocks, or even electrically so your options are more varied when it comes to installation.

3. A Steamy Affair

Next on our list, we find the steam sauna. In a steam sauna, you’d usually find the walls lined with tiles, glass, or acrylic finishing. This means that you can go for a more contemporary, modern look if that’s what you’re looking for.

The sauna itself is fueled by boiling water which periodically fills the room with steam, helping clear the respiratory system or clearing those pores.

4. Infrared Saunas

Infrared saunas use light to create heat, it’s that simple.

Infrared rays are used to warm your body from the inside out, which means you’ll find yourself sweating profusely and your heart rate increasing. In fact, it’s been compared to that a light cardio workout!

If you’re looking for a sauna that’s lower on the temperature spectrum, then this might be the one for you. These tips for using a sauna are great for first-time users.

Different Types of Saunas

When looking into different types of saunas there are two things you should take into consideration:

One, think about the space that you have available in your home, and two, consider your personal preference when it comes to heat. Put those two together and you’ll surely make the right decision.
