How Darjeeling Tea Can Actually Make a Huge Difference to Your Skin

It is perfect to drink while waking up in the morning or as the tea of choice during afternoon high tea.

But, did you know that, in addition to tasting delicious, it has health benefits? Keep reading to learn about how drinking Darjeeling tea can make a huge difference in your skin.

History of Darjeeling Tea

If you are looking for darjeeling tea , you may be interested in its history. Almost 150 years ago, Britain was looking for a source other than China to produce its tea.

In 1845, in a small hamlet of the Himalayas, a horticulturist planted tea seeds in his garden as an experiment. This experiment was a huge success, and today there are 86 tea gardens that produce 10 million kilograms of tea every year.

Darjeeling tea comes from the leaves of the Camellia Sinesis plant. It withers, oxidizes, and results in a fantastic quality tea.

There are four main kinds of Darjeeling tea: Oolong, green, white, and black. Their great smell and widely known health benefits make these teas appealing to everyone.

Benefits to the Skin

Darjeeling tea contains anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties, which make it a highly sought-after tea since these are known to keep skin glowing.

As Darjeeling tea comes in four different types, note that each one has specific health benefits. Green and black Darjeeling teas have caffeine, catechins (EGCG-3), and polyphenols.

These nutrients are known to reduce acne and the signs of aging as well as reverse the effects of UV damage. They also encourage collagen production and new cell growth.

Polyphenols are prebiotics that helps to create a healthy gut that, in turn, leads to healthy skin. The caffeine in the green and black teas reduces puffy eyes and dark circles.

Green Darjeeling tea has tannic acids that help heal sunburn and blemishes and cool the skin, similar to a toner. Theaflavins and therarubigins are also present in Darjeeling tea. These compounds help eliminate toxins in the body by flushing them out.

Other Health Benefits

In addition to being healthy for the skin, the chemicals in Darjeeling tea may reduce the risk of metabolic conditions like obesity, heart disease, and diabetes.

The teas may be able to aid in weight loss, as unsweetened tea is low in calories. Darjeeling tea may have anti-cancer properties and antimicrobial effects, including improving oral health and treating bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract.

Even the scent of Darjeeling tea can calm people. The caffeine will help some people feel more focused and alert after just one cup. Some studies show that these types of black tea improved mood during stressful times.

Because it naturally contains L-theanine, which is an amino acid, tea can calm and settle nerves while it relaxes the mind. Black and green Darjeeling tea may also be neuroprotective, meaning they protect the nervous system and brain.

With all of the health benefits of drinking Darjeeling tea, coupled with its delicious taste, there shouldn’t be anything holding you back from having a cup. Try all four varieties to find a favorite and watch as your skin becomes brighter and healthier.
