One of the most common areas where you and your family will encounter wildlife around your home is in your yard. This is often due to the fact that yards attract many types of wildlife for many reasons.

These are havens that rodents, snakes, and their food sources love to hang out in. In addition, keeping any tall grass or weeds trimmed can keep rodents, insects, and other small animals away. If you have many large trees that provide great shelter for many birds, squirrels, and even raccoons, you may want to consider cutting back on the trees.

Consider a Fence

While putting in a fence can be costly, it is one of the most surefire ways to keep wildlife from entering your yard. Depending on the type of fence you put in, some can be ineffective on certain types of animals. Rodents can often find a gap in almost any fence.

Some animals can tunnel underneath the fence. However, for the most part, most nuisance wildlife species will be kept out by a fence. Be sure to think about putting in a fence that extends below the ground a little bit to keep most animals out of your yard.

Secure Your Garden

If you love your garden, you surely want to protect it from wildlife. In securing your garden, you will also give animals less of a reason to come into your yard. To keep your garden off-limits, you could consider putting up some chicken wire around the perimeter of your plants.

This will keep most types of animals out. In addition, put some chicken wire above your plants to keep birds and squirrels out.
