Roof cleaning is a complicated task especially for those who are doing multiple jobs. It plays an important role in the beauty of your house. If your house is attractive to see, then moss and algae will not let that happen.

When you’re doing all these, make sure you’re wearing proper protective gear for cleaning. Use puncture-resistant gloves to protect your hands and a face mask to avoid inhaling anything that may irritate your airways. Finally, wear clothes with full-body protection.

No one will look at your home with alluring eyes. Many people face complications because of moss and algae presence.

Tips and Tricks to Remove Moss and Algae

To start with the roof cleaning process, you will need the following tools:

What You’ll Need

  • Safety glasses and goggles
  • Rubber or plastic gloves
  • Safety rope
  • Casual work clothes, a cap to protect your hair, and a slip-resistant footwear
  • Huge Ladder
  • Garden hose connected with a spray nozzle
  • Moss-remover spray or detergent
  • Backpack-style garden pump sprayer or an enormous sized spray bottle
  • Scrubbing brush
  • Long-handled soft-bristle cleaning brush
  • Electrically start power washer

1. Preparation Space

Before beginning with the cleaning, always wear casual or not essential clothes. Because when you will start the process, your entire clothes will get dirty with the stains of moss and algae dirt.

One more thing, wearing glasses for your eye safety is an essential step. It will save your eyes from miserable infections.

2. Spray Your Roof With Water

If you are a beginner to wash moss and algae from the roof, then we will suggest spraying your roof with water. While spraying water, start from the top side to the end side. That will help to easily wind up the process.

3. Scrub Shingles

Most of you will not be aware of the fact that cleaning requires scrubbing before cleaning the surface with the bacteria-killing detergent.

Buy soft-bristle brushes from any local store at a cheap price. Scrub the brush all over the surface to break the strong layers of green layer produced by moss and algae.

4. Apply Moss Remover

Use a long spray bottle for roof cleaning purposes. Add your preferred detergent to the bottle in order, to begin with, the cleaning.

5. Rinse Roof

Lastly, grab a ladder to climb up the roof. Because it is time to clean the roof from the detergent solution. Remove the remaining solution with the brush and then rinse it again.
