How to Clean Your House with a Pressure Washer

It’s important to remember to only use detergents that are specifically intended for pressure washing equipment. Always work in small sections, and apply the cleaning detergent starting at the bottom, working your way up.

You should also let the detergent remain on the surface for a few minutes before rinsing it off. Just be careful not to let it dry. Once the detergent is applied, rinse it starting at the top and working your way down.

Washing Different Types of Exterior Surfaces

Every type of exterior surface has different requirements.

For example, you must take special care with brick-and-mortar homes, as well as stucco. On brick and mortar, use a low-pressure spray before applying the cleaning detergent for best results. And for stucco, be sure to patch in chips or cracks in the surface, and allow the patches to dry for at least a week prior to the pressure wash.

When cleaning a home with wood or vinyl siding, repair or replace any damaged pieces of siding before power washing. It’s also important to hold the spray nozzle at least 24 inches from the surface of the siding and try to avoid spraying under the bottom edges of the siding panels. This will help keep them from pulling loose or splitting.
