Did you know that around 1.8 billion people shopped online in 2018?

A lot of us are regularly shopping online due to its convenience. Being able to order groceries, clothes, or electronics from the comfort of our couch is great. Not only do we save on gas, but we avoid long in-store queues and grumpy shoppers.

But when you have a package stolen off your doorstep, it’s infuriating and can turn you off of online shopping. Luckily, there are ways to prevent package theft.

Tired of Package Theft? 3 Smart Alternatives to Home Delivery

In this article, we’re going to share 3 ways you can avoid having your packages stolen and be able to shop online with confidence.

Read on for more information.

1. Require a Signature With Delivery

Perhaps the easiest way to avoid having your package stolen is to choose the delivery option, which requires somebody to sign for it. This means that it cannot be left on your doorstep and would have to be put into your hand.

There’s normally a small fee for this type of delivery, but it’s worth it.

The only downside is that a lot of people aren’t able to wait at home all day. The only alternative is to have it delivered to a trusted neighbor or family member.

2. Get it Delivered to Your Local Pack and Ship Store

You can contact your local pack and ship store and ask about their package receiving service.

You’ll be able to have your package delivered to this address and be able to pick it up at a convenient time. There’s usually a fee, but it’s only minimal. It’s worth the price just to know your package is safe.

If you often shop online, you can even rent a mailbox there. It will likely save you money in the long run.

3. Use an Amazon Locker

If you regularly shop on Amazon, then this option may be the best for you.

When choosing your delivery option, you may have the choice to get it delivered to an Amazon locker. These are like high school lockers that are located at shops and grocery stores. The package will be delivered to the locker, and you’ll be sent a code to open it.

Not only do you have the peace of mind of knowing your parcel is safe, but it’s also a free option. This is a huge reason why many people choose this delivery method.

Finally, if you own an apartment building, why not install Amazon Hubs? It’s a safe and sophisticated mailbox option which is trusted by many.

How to Prevent Package Theft?

We hope you have enjoyed reading our article and have learned a few alternative options for doorstep delivery.

As you can see, there are many delivery options you can choose from, and these all significantly reduce the risk of package theft. There’s no doubt that if you can get your package stored safely for free, then it’s worth doing.
