  1. Change Your Daily Habits

If you want to save power you can start doing that by doing some small changes to your daily habits. Turn off the lights, fan, heater, and other appliances when you are leaving your room or going out.

Doing some task manually instead of using appliances that need electricity to use them can be helpful as well not only for energy saving but for your health too. For example, you can wash dishes yourself instead of using a dishwasher.

Many devices such as a computer or smartphones power saving feature built-in them, use it when you are away for a short time but can’t turn it off. Buy a home energy monitor to see which appliances are consuming how much electricity.

  1. Start Using LED Bulbs and Lights

The days of incandescent light bulbs are gone. They consume too much electricity and you should stop using them and switch to LED bulbs which can save a large amount of electricity and they last longer compared to incandescent light bulbs.

  1. Give Preference to Energy Efficient Appliance

When purchasing a new appliance give preference to one that is energy efficient instead of the one which comes with the lesser price tag. There is an Energy Star label you can see on all the appliances that are energy efficient.

However, how much energy will be saved depends on each model. On average, Home and kitchen appliances are responsible for 13% of total household power use. Call an emergency electrician in Sydney to understand the energy rating properly and implement them in your home.

  1. Manage Cooling and Heating

You can use a smart thermostat or programmable to manage cooling and heating in your home. It can automatically turn off or reduce (depends on what you want) the heating or cooling when you are sleeping or when are just not around. A thermostat can save on average $180 of yours by saving energy.

  1. Sealing Air Leaks

Another way to reduce your power or energy bill is by sealing air leaks. You can find many air leaks around your home. Check your windows and doors to see if there is any crack or opening. You can use caulk to seal the leaks between non-movable objects like window frame and wall.

Apply weather stripping on movable objects like doors and operable windows to seal leaks. Sealing air leaks will help you in saving power in your home.

  1. Insulation

Insulation in your home is very important if you want to save energy bills of your home. It works as a barrier which keeps your home warm in winter and cools in summer. A well-insulated home provides great comfort throughout the year and saves almost half of your power bills.

  1. Use of Solar Energy

You can install solar panels to use solar energy. It can help you in some of your daily work and reduce your power bills. The more solar energy you use, the less you need from your power supplier.
