You will be pleased to know that the Kitchenaid Professional mixer is actually made for cooks who think big but dream bigger.

KitchenAid Professional 600 Mixer Review

Writing kitchen appliance reviews is something that I enjoy doing and I like to look at the products from a buyers perspective and try and give them an informed overview of the product that the product manufacturers don’t seem to do.

I bought a KitchenAid professional 600 6-Qt stand mixer recently and I actually intended to give it as a gift to my friend, as I know she is an avid cook and only buys quality products and nothing speaks quality more than the Kitchenaid brand.

Anyway, I loved it so much that I kept that one for myself and bought her another one. For both quality and price, this seriously is an affordable piece of professional equipment.

KitchenAid Pro 600 Features

The KitchenAid professional 600 model features a 575 watts brawny motor and a large 6-quart bowl which allows the user to bake big batches of any dough easily and smoothly.

It comes with the 3 basic attachments, a wire whip, a flat beater, and the spiral dough hook and of course access to plenty of KitchenAid attachments that you can purchase separately.

The spiral dough hook allows for better mixing but also gives a more thorough kneed and does it in less time.

The flat beater is designed to shed the mixture while it revolves around the bowl and is also designed to get a more complete mix.

When using the flat beater for medium weight mixes you want to use speeds from about 4 – 8 and you will use these speeds around 80% of the time.

What is the Maximum Mixing Yields I Can Use?

I also liked a large amount of mixing that can be achieved using the 6-quart bowl which includes:

  • Bread dough for Approx. 8 loaves
  • Cookie dough for 13 dozen cookies
  • 8 pounds of Mash Potato
  • 14 cups of Flour

Bowl-Lift Design Features

Unique to the KitchenAid professional 600 is the planetary mixing action that while the beater revolves around the bowl in one direction it also spins in the opposite direction and not to mention the different 67 touch points on the mixing bowl, that provide a better mixing experience.

The bowl-lift model is the most stable model that Kitchenaid makes because it has two arms that wrap around the bowl and the bowl is secured on heavy-duty metal pins.

For me, the Kitchenaid professional 600 is one of the best KitchenAid stand mixer models, since it features a bow-lift design which I think has more power, sturdiness and can mixing more evenly than the tilt-head models, but anyway it is a personal preference.

 Electronic Speed Sensor

An electronic sensor monitors the speed through 10 distinctive different speeds so that you can match the speed to the job.

Here is some information about each speed:

  • Stir Speed – Great for mixing light ingredient as flour, to prevent it from flying all over your kitchen
  • Speed Setting 2 – I think this speed is the most used for kneading dough, batters and bread making.
  • Speed Setting 4 – This best use of this speed is for cake mix and beating cookies.
  • Speed Setting 6 – The best setting for whipping, creaming and beating.
  • Speed Setting 8 – A fast setting for whipping cream and egg whites.
  • Speed Setting 10 – This is the highest speed option, and the most use of it is to finish the final whip.

 Soft Start Mixing Feature

Soft start is another great feature of the KitchenAid professional 600, that prevent light ingredient from flying all over your kitchen and it is found in every speed setting.

Auto Shut Off

The Kitchenaid professional 600 has a heavy-duty commercial-style motor and with its direct-drive transmission it will deliver a lot of power to achieve professional results, however, should the motor sense overload it will automatically shut off to protect itself.

Here some tasks this stand mixers are good for:

  • If you own an old-fashioned stand mixer and have decided it is time to upgrade to a newer model.
  • Homeowners are looking for a powerful appliance in their kitchen arsenal.
  • Bakers that deal with stiff dough and large quantity.
  • People who need a quality product and for that product to last a long time.

 Specifications

  • Depth 14 5/8 Inches
  • Height 16 1/2 Inches
  • Width 11 5/16 Inches
  • Weight 30 LB
  • Electrical 60 Hz. 120 V, 575 W
  • 6 Quart Stainless Steel Bowl
  • A 1-year warranty

 Here are Some Customer Feedbacks

“The speed settings on the kitchen aid professional 600 are EXTREMELY powerful on this mixer”

“I purchased a kitchen aid professional 600 mainly to make a recipe that calls for 7 cups of flour and my old mixer couldn’t handle it.”

“ThiskitchenAid professional 600 stand mixer is a really sturdy and powerful appliance and not to mention the great and beautiful design”

Any Customer Complaints?

I did not find too many complaints but here are a few of the ones that came up a few times:

Some people said that it was too tall to fit under their countertop or in the cupboard. Check the sizes before you buy.

Other customers complained about the noise, also people commented that when the mixer had a full load, this definitely lowered the noise level quite considerably.

A few customers complained that the Kitchenaid professional 600 did not handle small mixes very well and they had to keep scraping the bowl. It definitely works best on large batches.

Lastly, I found others that complain about the attachments that come with mixers are not dishwasher safe, which makes the cleaning a much inconvenience.
