Like any electric appliance, air conditioners need periodic maintenance. However, people often forget about the air conditioning system in their home and wait until summer to check whether it’s properly running or not.

After such a long dormant period, problems associated with air conditioners generally shoot up and cost homeowners hundreds of dollars on its repair.

While the best way to deal with such issues is to call efficient air conditioner repair services, you can also keep a check on your own, especially during the winter months, to catch any potential problems beforehand. Today, we are sharing some common problems with their solutions  to help you save on the repair cost down the road.

1. Dirty Air Filters

If you haven’t changed the filters throughout the summer and left it dirty even in winters, chances are your air conditioning system will give uneven cooling.

An air filter plays the role of gatekeeper; that is, it traps pet dander, fine dust particles, and a wide range of allergens that you might not want to circulate inside your cozy home.

Air filters not only protect your airspace, but they protect your furnace as well. Check for clogged filters if you notice reduced airflow. Though a dirty air filter is not a repair problem, it may cause your cooling system to overwork and become a reason for system breakdown.

2. Clogged Drain Line

Have you ever dealt with clogged drains? Well, air conditioning drain lines are no different. Instead of hair, soap, and food, you will find dust particles trapped inside the drain line. It happens because of condensation from the evaporator coils.

It turns dust particles in the air into the mud and eventually forms a debris clog. If you have excessive humidity in your house, you may have a clogged AC drainage line.

Generally, a cooling system keeps the home’s humidity at a safe level. But when you feel the air muggier than usual, check the AC drainage lines; otherwise, you may end up with AC failure.

3. The System isn’t Turning On

Homeowners after complaint about their air conditioner not turning on at all after the winter months. When your air conditioning system doesn’t start, troubleshoot with the thermostat.

Make sure you have changed the thermostat settings from heat to cool. The second thing you need to check is the set-point. Ensure you have set the thermostat higher than the house’s room temperature.

Another thing you must check is your electrical panel. Many times, a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker results in air conditioner issues. If you are unable to pin the main problem, it’s best to call efficient air conditioner repair services.

Make sure you only consider credible and accredited air conditioning experts with the required skill set for cleaning and fixing your AC unit. These were a few common problems that homeowners face with their air conditioning systems. If you are facing the same, don’t waste another second to get in touch with home air conditioning repair services.
