Consider Installing A Glass Block Shower — If you are designing a new bathroom, or remodeling an old bathroom, it might be worth your time to consider adding a glass block shower. Many people do not even use bathtubs any more as anything more than a place to stand while you shower. A walk in shower would be a lot more convenient and give you more room to shower.

With a glass block shower, you have a walk in enclosure, either with a door or just with and entryway that ensures privacy. You will have more space to shower and you won’t have to worry about stepping over the side of the tub to get in.

The glass blocks will give you privacy while still letting in a lot of light, unlike many shower curtains which actually block out a lot of light. These showers are also easier to clean that a traditional tub shower, and the glass blocks are sometimes made in ways to make them stay clean for longer.

Moreover, a shower made with shower blocks is the perfect product to use in a steam shower due to its non-porous attributes. Steam Shower brands such as Insignia use glass in their products for this very reason and can cut the running costs of the steam generator by 25% compared to using a ceramic tile for example.

People who want a really luxurious experience can even turn their glass block shower into a steam shower with a steam kit. Of course this works best with shower enclosures that go to the ceiling and have doors since it will be easier to keep the steam in the shower with this type of set up.

It doesn’t have to be difficult to install a glass block shower. There are kits available that include everything that you need. You can also get the glass blocks and accessories separately and design your own shower.

One company that makes these is Corning, and a number of companies sell the kits and necessary materials to install a shower like this. The blocks are made in various colors if you would like to have something other than clear glass, so you can really make a design statement with glass that matches your bathroom decor.

Glass blocks can be useful for other things as well. You can even get windows made from glass blocks so that you can let in various amounts of light while maintaining a little more privacy than you would have with regular windows.
