  6. Beyond Laminate Floor Care

Laminate flooring has many benefits over other materials. It is easy to clean, durable, safe, and has a high-quality look and feel with minimum maintenance.

That’s why laminate floors are the most popular flooring option in America.

However, although a core aspect of laminate flooring’s appeal is how low-maintenance it is, that does not mean that you can completely neglect it.

Laminate floor care is essential if you wish to get maximum value, time, and quality from your floors.

The Do’s and Don’ts of Laminate Floor Care

Fortunately, laminate floor maintenance is easy, straightforward, and can be incorporated into your regular housework routine.

If you’re looking for laminate floor care tips, read this handy guide to find out.

1. Do Keep Your Floor Cool and Dry

The lifespan of your laminate flooring depends on your ability to keep it cool and dry as much as possible, to prevent rot. But how long do laminate floors last?

According to the experts, the range is between 10 and 30 years. If you want your floors to make it to 30, keep your floors dry.

2. Don’t Use Abrasive Cleaning Materials

If you want sparkling clean laminate floors, you might be tempted to scrub them vigorously, perhaps with some wire wool or a bristled scrubber.

However, this should absolutely be avoided at all costs.

If you want to know how to care for laminate flooring, a golden rule is to always use a soft, damp (not soaking wet) mop. Scrub gently.

3. To Read the Instructions for Your Flooring

There is no such thing as a standard laminate floor material. It is important to remember that the instructions for laminate floor maintenance will vary depending on the brand and manufacturer.

Do not throw away the instructions for your laminate flooring. These will include important information on how to properly clean and care for your laminate floors.

4. Don’t Let Stains Sit There

This one might seem obvious, but it really does bear repeating. If you spill something on your floor and do not act immediately, you could be dealing with permanent stains and surface damage.

Laminate flooring is most stain-resistant than most wood floors, but this is no excuse for laziness.

Clean up all of your stains as and when they occur. This is the most effective way to ensure that your laminate floorboards remain in tip-top condition for decades.

5. Do Trim Your Pet’s Nails

If you have pets, it is important to know that your four-legged friends are pretty much the number one cause of damage to the laminate floorboard.

Pet nails are unfortunately not very kind to laminate floorboards.

Keep your pet’s nails trimmed and short if you want to avoid unseemly scratches and grooves in your wood.

This simple step can make a huge difference.
