Whether you are moving house or want to redecorate your current place, moving large furniture might be challenging.

When it comes to the process, the focus of attention is often on how heavy the furniture is and who can help with the move. Below, we advocate for putting possible damage down to zero.

You need to plan the moving process well and protect the furniture itself and the premises. People who deal with the move, like a professional moving company here, can easily help with this.

Make a Plan and Protect Doorways

Suppose you need to move a piano and a bookshelf. First, you make sure they fit nicely into a new place. Measure them as well as the doorways and corridors you need to carry them through.

If the piano just fits, you need to consider protecting both doorways and the piano to avoid damage. If you hit a corner, a scratch or chip will be there right in front of you, and fixing it will be costly.

Wrapping the piano with blankets and scotch tape and removing the molding will do the job.

Use Furniture Sliders

When the protection is in place, the time has come to use special equipment.  Placing furniture sliders or moving blankets under a bookshelf or the piano has a double function.

The furniture slides toward its new place easily since sliders reduce friction, and it doesn’t ruin the flooring with scratches.

Disassemble Your Furniture

Whenever possible to reduce the weight of a piece of furniture, go for it. Unfortunately, this is not the case with the piano. But when moving the bookshelf, take the shelves out.

Do not fall for the mistake many people make  do not try to move the bookshelf with the books and trinkets inside.

Not only books are heavy and make the task more tiring, but they will inevitably start falling out and might hurt the people involved.

Hire Professional Movers

Moving heavy objects is a task we do not often perform. If you do not think you are fit enough, consider hiring a professional team to do the job.

You will be surprised how efficient people can be in moving furniture if you ask movers in Berkeley here to do it for you.

If you are doing it yourself, not to hurt your back, you need to move your body in a way to strain your core and leg muscles. Bend from your knees, not from your waist, when reaching out for a heavy drawer.

Either you choose to perform the move yourself or ask for professional help, success relies on starting the job with the end result in mind.

It begins with identifying the place where to move and considering all obstacles on the way. Protecting both the furniture and the house, using special equipment and moving technics goes next.

The furniture will be moved, and no damage is caused.
