The refrigerator is the only machine that works 24/7. Naturally, it consumes more energy compared to other appliances.

We have to note down the changes in the monthly electric bill to deeply understand the performance of the refrigerator. Due to advancements in technology, it has become difficult to choose the right refrigerator available in the market.

We are highly neglecting this part and focusing more on storing and taking out the food from the refrigerator.

Top Freezer Refrigerator

These traditional fridges are good for storing a lot of foodstuff in a given required area. They offer more space and come in different options in terms of design, colour and style.

Nowadays, they are adapting all the latest technology to transform the traditional kitchen into an attractive base.

Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

It’s pretty easy to select the food you love the most as you don’t need to bend. They have more capacity than a top-mounted refrigerator.

They are less efficient when compared to the top-mounted freezer but have a variety of features to use.

Side By Side Door Refrigerator

Side by side refrigerator comes in a variety of models that show advanced features than the other two refrigerator models.

Most of the compartments have toughened glass shelves to hold heavy utensils. Most of the side by side refrigerator has water and ice dispenser for collecting cold water and ice cubes.

Placement

Finding a good place to install your refrigerator in the kitchen is not so easy. First of all, the fridge has to be kept away from the sunlight and also from appliances like a microwave oven that produces heat.

image - Placement

Place it in such a way that enough space should be provided for the air to flow around it. Refrigerators release heat from the back and required clearance space is specified in the instruction book.

People use the top of the refrigerator for storing decorating things. Keep the space above the refrigerator clean to provide breathing space for the fridge.

Direct Cool V/S Frost-Free Refrigerator

Direct Cool

In the direct cool fridge, the distribution of cool air takes place naturally without any external help. They are highly efficient and are mostly used in a single door refrigerator.

Frost accumulates in the freezer, so manual defrosting is done to remove frost. New digital auto frost technology has come up to avoid manual defrosting and make more energy-efficient.

Frost Free

It works on uniform distribution of cool air inside the refrigerator by the electric fans. They don’t require manual defrosting as there is no formation of ice.

When compared to the direct cool, they consume more energy because of fans. You can find this in most of the double and triple door refrigerator.

Inverter Compressor

The compressor helps in circulating the refrigerant throughout the system and is highly regarded as the heart of the refrigerator.

Temperature sensors inside the fridge send signals to the compressor based on the internal temperature. Condensed refrigerant is made to flow throughout the system to absorb internal heat. This is how the cycle repeats.

Inverter compressor runs at a controlled consistent speed and significantly consumes less energy. The durability of the inverter compressor is good when compared with normal compressors.

Inverter compressor produces silent operation as the compressor runs depending on the temperature inside the fridge.

Energy Rating

Everyone must understand the energy efficiency facts about the refrigerator. They should not regret later for choosing a less efficient model which leads to bigger energy bills.

More energy star rating means more power efficiency. After buying the fridge, certain energy-saving tips have to be followed to increase the durability of your refrigerator.

Door alarms feature is a simple but very important feature. This is because when the door is open there will be fluctuation in the cooling system. The compressor has to work hard to bring back the standard temperature.

Many prefer using a bottom freezer fridge for their convenience, but they generally cost more to run than the top-mount freezer. Every model is unique in its performance and efficiency, it is mandatory to check the energy rating label before buying the best refrigerator for your home.

Convertible Refrigerator and Toughened Glass Shelves

Convertible refrigerator helps in switching the fridge into the freezer and vice versa depending on the usage and quantity of food to be stored.

image - Toughened Glass Shelves

These refrigerators mainly have two separate fans and evaporator. This way temperature is regulated separately and both the section can run independently. Just with the push of a button, you can easily activate this feature.

In vacation mode, only the freezer compartment is switched on to keep important items. When you go out for a vacation for a few days or weeks, you can opt for this mode to save electricity.

Sometimes if you have to stay alone due to some reasons, then you can switch off the fridge section and shift all your food items to the freezer section.

Toughened shelves have high strength and do not break even if you drop from a minimum height. They are free from heavy metals and food is safe to store.

Glass shelves can hold up to a weight of 150kg and they can be removed easily while cleaning the refrigerator.

Best Time to Buy a Refrigerator

From the sources, it has been told that spring is the season where manufacturers release newer models and cuts prices on older models.

If you are not ready to wait for discounts, then you can reach out to nearby retailers or e-commerce websites to get the fridge on the latest price.

Have the idea of general price, when you get any discounted sales you will have a better picture of the difference in prices and can escape from fake discount sales.

Conclusion

Read the guidelines thoroughly before selecting the best refrigerator for your home. Never make your decision based on a few important features like energy efficiency or capacity, keep all the features in mind and finally make the right decision to select the perfect fridge.
