Innovative Mattress Designs in 2020

Each year brings something new and 2020 is no different. Here’s a list of innovative mattress designs that will open your eyes to what’s out there.

  1. Eco-friendly Beds

More companies and consumers are starting to understand how important it is to be eco-friendly. The challenge is if companies can create beds that consumers want to buy and are eco-friendly.

Companies are starting to take on this challenge and are producing comfortable beds that people actually want to sleep in.

Consumers also love these beds because they do not have all the harmful chemicals that are in many beds.

You can say it’s a win-win for both sides. You should check out your local mattress store and test-drive these beds yourself.

  1. Folding Mattresses

When it comes to folding mattresses, you imagine a piece of foam that provides no support and is extremely uncomfortable to sleep in.

Many companies are changing that preconception by coming up with comfortable folding mattresses.

It’s the perfect solution for people who are working with little space or want a versatile mattress they can use around the house.

Some of these mattresses also have multiple functions. They can be folded as sofa chairs. They can be used as cushions. They can also be used as play mats.

While these sofas are usually bought elsewhere, you may also find them in a nearby mattress store.

  1. Snuggle Mattresses

People who love to snuggle know the dreadful feeling of having the circulation to their arm getting cut off by their partner. The snuggle mattress creates a simple solution to this common problem.

There’s a small gap where you can place your arm. This means that your arm’s circulation won’t be cut off and you can snuggle away.

This seems like a humorous solution that serves very little purpose. But it’s a simple yet ingenious solution for people who love to snuggle. The question still remains if this design will take off in the mattress market.

  1. Smart Mattresses

Many apps are designed to help you optimize your sleep. They track things like your sleep schedules, cycles, and other data points so that you can use the information to improve your sleep.

But there’s only so much that an app can do.

Smart mattresses take it one step further. They track your sleeping position, firmness of the bed, temperature, heartbeat, and more.

If you often have trouble sleeping, then a smart mattress should definitely be a consideration. It’s not just a tech solution that helps you optimize your sleep. It can offer other health benefits.

  1. Mattresses with Cooling Built-in

If you’re one of many people that suffer from your body overheating while you’re sleeping, you know how uncomfortable it can get.

You toss and turn in an effortless solution to cool down your body. You may even wake up to turn on the fan or air conditioner.

This problem gets even worse during the summer if you don’t like running the air conditioner all night. Many companies are actually working on mattresses with cooling built-in.

There is a special top layer fabric where cooled air flows through from a cooling section.

What’s more, some of these mattresses provide you with many settings. For instance, keeping your bed cool all night can result in you feeling too cold.

A simple solution is to run the cooling in one hour or half-hour increments. This is the ultimate solution to overheating while you’re sleeping.

  1. Sonic Beds

While this is only at a development phase, inventors are coming up with a bed with speakers built-in. If you love music and love waking up to music, then this bed may be in your future.

Because the sound resonates from within the bed, you are not only listening to the music, but you’re feeling it too. This creates an immersive experience for audiophiles that like to stay in bed.
