But before enjoying the taste of this long-term life sojourn, you still have to go through a very stressful process: the moving out and the transfer of your things to your new home.

7 Ways to Make Moving House Less Stressful

Although no one can completely eliminate the stress that you have to go through, there are ways to reduce the hassle and minimize the pressure and make it less nerve-wracking. Just continue to read things below as we bare 7 effective ways to make moving less stressful:

Effective Ways to Make Moving House Less Stressful

1. Declutter As You Pack Your Things

Packing your things when you are about to transfer is the perfect time to declutter. There is actually no point of packing the things that you will not be needing and it will only make boxing your things worse. It can also cost you more in moving expenses.

This is the perfect time to get rid of those unnecessary or the things that you do not even use at your house to your own expense. You can donate those things to other people or you can hold a garage sale or sell those online so you can earn extra bucks to help you cover your moving fees.

2. Color Code Your Moving Boxes

You should put color codes into your boxes so you can easily know where to put the boxes straight from the trucks. Pick one color for each room. For instance, all the boxes from your kitchen is yellow, blue for the boxes from the master bedroom, and so on. You can even put the corresponding color to the doors so the helpers can easily know where to put them with less supervision.

3. Double-Check Your Inventory

But before doing all things listed here, you should make a list of the things you must pack so you will not be leaving anything important behind. Creating a checklist can help you plan what you are bringing, and you can double check everything once everything is packed already.

Double checking usually do not take too much of your time, so take a few minutes to carefully go through your list. Additionally, once every box is in the vehicle already, you should check your house again for valuables that you may forgot to bring with you.

4. Don’t Move on a Friday

Friday is one of the busiest days of the week. It is the time where people are on their way home and in result, traffic are usually worse during Fridays. Moving is already as stressful as it is, but being stuck in the traffic makes it even worse.

If you want to have a smooth operation while moving, the best time is during the middle of the week and during office hours. During these times, most people are at work so there are less people who would come to you to ask around and there will be less distractions and potential disturbances.

5. Hire a Moving Truck

Hiring a HGV vehicle will make your move time a lot quicker and a lot smoother, says www.hgvtrainingsussex.co.uk . Even if you have a mini-van or vehicle and you can fit all your things in there, it is still advisable to rent a moving truck.

They are more experienced in moving and most of them are more handfulin carrying your boxes in and out of the truck and your old and new house. For example, a truck hire Auckland company, Elite Truck Rentals, helps moving in and out furniture as well. Moving trucks aren’t just for businesses; they can also serve residential clients, too.

6. Make it Fun

A good music while packing your things up can help ease the tension during this tiring day. You can also ask your family members to help you while turning it into something fun. For example, you can let your kids compete and he/she who will be able to pack the most can get to choose his/her room in your new house. Of course, you will have to supervise them to make sure they are doing it right.

If you have no kids, you can ask your friends or relatives to assist you. By doing this, you do not only lessen the work, but you will also be able to reduce the stress of packing up.

7. Organization is the Key

Moving needs careful planning. Even before you start, you should already have a game plan in your mind and you know what to do and what to avoid. To avoid additional stress, you should already set goals and try to achieve each of it. For instance, you should already know when exactly will you move, checklist of the necessary things to bring with you, contacting your agents, and packing your belongings neatly.
