The Mattress has Started to Sag

One of the top signs your mattress needs to be replaced is if it has begun to sag. This is a clear “you need to replace your mattress” sign. It is also a symptom that occurs with all types of mattresses.

As the springs deteriorate as time passes, memory foam will get softer, and the other materials will start to compress. All of this can result in sagging.

It would help if you did not wait until a crater has formed in the middle of your bed. Even small sags, of just one to two inches, should not be ignored.

This may mean the mattress is not providing adequate support for the most vulnerable areas of your body.

Your Memory Foam Does Not Remember You

This issue only applies to memory foam mattresses. It is often tricky to determine. The purpose of memory foam is that it remembers you, your sleeping position, and your body. However, this only occurs to a specific degree.

Once you climb out of bed, the foam should go back to the original position. However, as time passes, memory foam can break down.

It will become softer and softer and lose the ability it has to bounce back and provide the support needed as you sleep.

If you have a memory foam mattress that maintains your body position long after you have gotten up, or if the impression is more than two inches, now is the time to replace it.

Changes in Firmness

If you own a memory foam mattress, you also need to take note if it gets overly soft or hard.

Due to the sensitivity of a memory foam mattress to temperature, which is why many people feel hot on this material, it will get harder in a small room or softer when in a warm room.

This firmness change can seriously impact your total comfort levels.

It Is Lumpy

When the padding inside your mattress shifts as time passes, you may begin to see lumps. This unevenness means that you do not get the support needed, where it is supposed to be. It may also cause serious pressure points that lead to poor sleep.

While lumps are much more common with lower quality mattresses, they can also occur in higher-end, higher-quality mattresses that have gotten too old.

Allergies

As time passes, most mattresses will begin to accumulate allergens, such as dust mites, mildew, and mold. If you are allergic to these things, then your mattress may cause an allergic reaction.

If you notice you start to sneeze when you get close to the bed or feel stuffy in the morning, it may be time to invest in a new mattress.

When it comes time to buy a new mattress, there are several factors to consider. Be sure to keep the information here in mind to make the most of the mattress that you purchase and ensure your comfort is restored to help you get a good night’s sleep.
