Las Vegas Real Estate

Before we begin looking at individual neighborhoods, it’s helpful to have an idea of what the real estate market is like in Las Vegas. During the year of 2021, it was labeled as a seller’s market due to rising prices and inventory shortages. However, no one knows what the year 2022 will bring.

In November 2021, the median home price was $420,000, an all-time record high. 3,273 single-family homes and 862 condos were sold. Buyers were forced to act quickly as 76.8% of homes and 79.8% of condos sold in 30 days or less. These are just some of the stats you should be aware of when looking at real estate in Las Vegas.

When you start your search for a home, you can find Las Vegas real estate and 55+ communities on a site like RetireBetterNow.com. It allows you to browse all the active listings on the market and get in touch with a local real estate agent who can help you to buy or sell a home in Vegas.

Without further ado, let’s examine five of the best places for seniors to retire in Las Vegas!

Best Places to Retire in Las Vegas

Sun City Summerlin

The 55 and over community Sun City Summerlin is the largest retirement community in the Las Vegas Valley with more than 7,700 homes and townhomes. Seniors love it as the community boasts four clubhouses, three golf courses, and resort-style amenities for all to enjoy.

Sun City Summerlin is located in the master-planned Summerlin community on the western edge of Las Vegas. It’s only about 20 minutes drive to the Las Vegas Strip and just minutes away from Downtown Summerlin® and Red Rock Canyon. With quality real estate and an outstanding location, you may consider looking here when retiring in Las Vegas.

Southern Highlands

A large master-plan community worth looking into is Southern Highlands in southwest Las Vegas. There’s a wide range of neighborhoods and real estate in Southern Highlands, from guard gated golf course estate properties to modest single-family houses in cookie-cutter neighborhoods. The community spans some 2,300 acres and boasts tree-lined streets.

Southern Highlands is home to the Southern Highlands Golf Club, a world-class 18-hole championship golf course and practice facility. There’s a 42,000 square foot clubhouse here with many amenities to enjoy. Seniors who want some pampering should check out the Spa at Southern Highlands.

Siena

Another one of the best communities for seniors in Las Vegas is Siena, a 55 and over golf community on the west side of the city. It’s a mid-sized retirement community with around 2,000 single-story homes. One of the best parts about living here is the golf course and resort-style amenities.

The Siena Golf Club is a championship 18-hole course with a stunning lake, waterfall, and extraordinary views of the city. The Siena Community Center is a 71,000 square foot clubhouse boasting a luxurious indoor and outdoor pool, fitness center, and rooms for social gatherings and clubs.

This is one of Las Vegas’ top neighborhoods for seniors, so don’t forget to tour the community and see it for yourself when you come into town.

Desert Shores

Looking for a lakeside home in Las Vegas? While some think it’s impossible for there to be a lake in the Mojave Desert, others are surprised to find out there are actually four man-made lakes in Desert Shores. This community offers waterfront properties ranging from luxury homes to affordable condos.

Desert Shores has trails and paths for walking and biking, making an active adult lifestyle accessible for all. On the lake, you can boat, swim and fish. There’s something for everyone in Desert Shores, even retirees and seniors. Don’t miss out on this lake community of Las Vegas!

Sun City Anthem

Last but certainly not least on our list of neighborhoods for seniors in Las Vegas, is Sun City Anthem. While technically it’s located in Henderson Las Vegas’ neighboring city and the 2nd largest in Nevada  Sun City Anthem is a great place to live, nonetheless.

This is the 2nd largest retirement community in the Las Vegas Valley and the developers didn’t forget a thing.

There are three clubhouses in Sun City Anthem, all boasting resort amenities, and activities for seniors. There’s an indoor and outdoor pool, spa, fitness centers, pickleball and tennis courts, bocce ball, and multi-use rooms.

For real estate, you will find single-story homes built by the famous Del Webb perched on a hillside overlooking Las Vegas. There’s no wonder seniors love it here!
