Here Are Signs That You Need to Install a New Roof:

 1. The Roof Is Hitting Its Lifespan

Know when your roof was installed to predict its lifespan; if unsure, check your improvement records. However, it depends on whether your initial roof was removed and only one layer of shingles is left and whether they function promptly.

If your roof is over 25 years old and was installed over several layers, it’s time you plan for a new one.

2. The Roof Is Sagging

Due to excessive water damage, your roof might start to sag. If your roof has faced simultaneous water damage, the wood starts to soften and warp.

This will appear like sagging spots on your roof. Excess water settles on the top if it hangs, causing more damage. In case of heavy downpours, our roof can collapse, and you should contact roof installation experts for inspection.

3. Discolored Attic

Water damage does not appear as shingle damage, sagging, or soft spots alone. It can as well appear in the attic. As water absorbs through the underlayment and shingles, it comes across the decking board that covers your home where the roof lays.

If your decking experiences long water exposure, it starts to darken. If this occurs, the attic begins to turn brown or black. Although attic discoloration can necessitate repairs, if you notice it too late, it indicates you should schedule a roof replacement.

4. Light Penetration

Once you start to see light through your boards, it’s a clear indication your need a new roof. First, you need immediate repairs and a thorough inspection to find if the insulation is wet.

Moisture damage can harm your wall and insulation, a deadly electrical hazard. Therefore, if you identify this sign, plan for a new roof installation as soon as possible.

5. Loose Roof Tiles

While you undertake your usual roof maintenance practices, checking if the tiles are loose is excellent. You can simply do these by stepping on them and determining if you want only repairs. However, you should consider installing a new roof if many tiles need to be fixed.

6. Exposed Nails

Inspect the areas adequately if you notice any exposed nails in the base of your top. Noticeable nails signify cracks in your roofing which is a result of leaks. If the damage is significant, it’s time to consider a roof replacement.

To get quality services, refrain from attempting DIY as you can mess up, so consider hiring skilled roofing experts.

Bottom Line

As your roof plays an essential role in your home, you must stay concerned about its well-being. This way, maintenance schedules are crucial to know when repairs are necessary. However, if you notice the above indications, it’s time you schedule a new roof installation.
