To help you see how this can be done, here are three ways to update an older bathroom.

Use More White

In most modern bathrooms, a lot of white is used. But in many older bathrooms, all kinds of colors were on the palette. So if you want your bathroom to appear more modern and like it’s been recently renovated, try incorporating more white into the space.

If the walls of your bathroom are in a different color or are using old wallpaper, try going with more white on the walls.

You can also use white accessories to bring more white into the space without actually changing any of the makeup of the bathroom.

But if you do have more money in your budget, replacing old sinks, tubs, and toilets with newer versions in the color white can really elevate the space.

Get Updated Fixtures

It’s not only white features that can make your old bathroom look like new. You can and should also look to update any old fixtures that are used in your space.

Fixtures that could be improved upon in most older bathrooms include things like the vanity, the faucet, and other hardware throughout the space.

And if you don’t think that you’re able to actually replace many of these items with something new, even adding a new coat of paint can help to modernize the space nicely.

Find Ways To Work With What You Don’t Like

People looking for a modern bathroom in their older home usually have one or more features of their bathroom that they don’t love.

But if doing major renovations to actually remove these items isn’t on the table, you’ll need to find some creative ways that you can either hide or find other ways to work with what you don’t like.

If there’s something in the space that you don’t like but other areas that you do like, try to draw attention to the spaces that you enjoy seeing or using and away from what you don’t like.

You can also look for ways to put a new facade on something you don’t like so that it looks different even though it’s still there in the bathroom.

If you have an older bathroom that you want to update and modernize, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you see how these things can be done within your own space.
