How to Prepare for a Roof Replacement?

The roofing contractor would arrange the material, and labor, and install the new roof. The preparation for the roof replacement would be your job. If you have got a roof to replace, here is what you would be required to do;

How to Prepare for the Roof Replacement

Since there is a lot, you need to do before the roof replacement, therefore the preparation should start a week before the replacement. At least a week before the replacement, do the following things;

  • Let your neighbors know about the replacement
  • Cut the grass and trim the tree branches
  • Unblock the way by moving the patio furniture and the vehicle
  • Remove all the wall decorations
  • Remove the satellite dishes and antennas
  • Cover the windows

Let your Neighbours Know About the Replacement

Since this week and the coming weeks, there will be a lot going on in your house. Let the neighborhood know that you are replacing your roof. Apologize in advance for the discomfort and begin the roof replacement operations.

Cut the Grass and Trim the Tree Branches

First of all, you have to find the branches hanging on the roof. If these branches are going to make the roof replacement hard, you have to give them a good trim. Once the tree branches are chopped off, shift your focus to grass.

The roof replacement would be rough, the grass would get damaged anyway. Therefore, take some time and cut the grass to make the job a bit easier for the roofing contractor.

Unblock the Way by Moving the Patio Furniture and the Vehicle

Now that you are done with the toughest part, move the patio furniture and vehicle and unblock the way.

If the patio furniture and the vehicle are not moved, there are some solid chances they suffer. So, to protect them, move them to a safe and secure place.

Remove All the Wall Decorations

Hammering on the roof makes the wall vibrate. Therefore, if you have any valuable painting, picture, or any other sort of decoration hanging on the wall, remove it. Otherwise, it will get damaged. Store it in a safe place as well, you can put the wall decorations back on once the replacement is done.

Remove the Satellite Dishes and Antennas

It’s common for us to have satellite dishes and antennas. Since the entire old roof would be taken down and a new roof would be installed, remove the satellite dishes and antennas as well. You would be asked to remove them anyway, so there is no point in delaying the process.

Cover the Windows

The vibration can crack the windows. If you do not want to get and pay for any more damage, cover the windows to protect them from the damage.

Most roofing contracts suggest protecting the windows with boards. So, cover or get the windows covered properly at least a day before the roof replacement operation starts.

The roof replacement sunshine coast offers a range of roof replacement services, with experienced and knowledgeable contractors who are equipped to handle any type of roofing project.
