Plants make up more than 80 percent of all living things on Earth—that means there are 7,500 plants for every human!

Not only do they absorb carbon dioxide, a natural greenhouse gas, but they also release oxygen. Aside from that, they also provide habitat and food for wildlife.

Despite that, billions of trees are cut down each year. In fact, 420 million hectares of forest have been lost over the past three decades.

Want to do your part to help? Perhaps you’d like to learn more about the benefits of trees? Then make sure to read the rest of the post!

How to Properly Plant a Tree

The first thing that you want to do is dig a hole for the tree. Generally speaking, you want it to be two to three times as wide as the root ball.

Once it’s in the hole, backfill around the root ball; you want the soil to be lightly packed. From there, drive a few tree stakes into the ground and through the root ball—it’ll help it develop a strong root system.

Alternatively, you can hire a professional landscaper such as those at West Bay Landscape!

Benefits of Trees That You Should Know About

There are several benefits to having trees in your yard. Here are some things to consider.

1. They Can Increase Your Property Value

Planting trees is a cost-effective way to increase your property value. That is, they can increase the value of your home by up to 20 percent.

Why? They increase curb appeal. Not only that, but they can increase privacy. Given that, it’s not surprising to know that many people look for homes with large, lush trees.

2. They Improve Air Quality

Air pollution is a major health threat. The good news is that you can clean the air with trees.

Aside from removing carbon dioxide, they also absorb pollutant gases such as sulfur dioxide, ammonia, nitrogen oxide, and more. On top of all that, their leaves and bark are able to filter particulates out of the air.

3. They Can Cool Your Home

Trees can keep your house cool during the summer. They do this by releasing water vapor into the air through their leaves. On top of that, they provide shade.

Ultimately, what that means is that you’ll be able to reduce your energy consumption (i.e. you won’t need to use as much air conditioning), which will save you money in the long run!

  1. They Can Muffle Noise

Trees can serve as a noise barrier—this is especially true if you live near a busy road. Take junipers and white pine, for example, they both have thick branches that provide excellent noise reduction.

That way, you can enjoy your yard without the distraction and stress of street noise.

Saving the Trees

As you can see, there are many benefits of trees. Given all that, why wouldn’t you want to have them on your lawn?
