Your garage is much more than just a place to store your car. It can also be your gym or workshop. Rubber flooring is easy to install and maintain, whether you choose tiles, rolls, or mats.

Easy Maintenance

If you plan on turning your garage into a home gym or a multifunctional workspace, you need durable flooring to handle the weight of your equipment and car. Rubber is an ideal choice because it’s moisture-resistant and easy to maintain.

This type of flooring can be installed as mats or tiles that lock together like a jigsaw puzzle to protect your concrete floor from damage and make it easier for you to clean. Regular sweeping and mopping with a gentle cleaning solution will keep your flooring looking fresh and clean.

The shock absorption of rubber garage flooring  is also great for your joints and will prevent aches and pains from using heavy equipment. It’s also a natural sound insulator that keeps noise from loud power tools or band practice.

Durability

Rubber is a tough flooring material that can absorb dropped barbells’ shock and resist damage from oils. The material also helps with comfort and support underfoot, making it ideal for areas of the garage used for workouts.

It also dampens sound, a benefit that can help ease muscle fatigue and backaches caused by long-standing or high-impact activity periods. Rubber flooring is easy to clean, too. Regular sweeping or vacuuming and occasional damp mopping are all needed to keep it looking great.

Water Resistance

Rubber garage flooring is made from recycled tires, which means it’s physically resistant to various conditions. It can withstand heavy weights and also is anti-microbial.

This means it won’t allow fungi or mildew to grow, a major benefit for garages in warm climates. It is also water resistant, making it a good choice for those who want something easy to clean that can still handle automotive fluids and chemicals.

Unlike epoxy, rubber is less likely to become damaged by gasoline or oil spills. Depending on the thickness of your flooring, it can also suppress noise and vibration.

The material can be bought in interlocking tiles, peel-and-stick options, or rolled-out mats. Interlocking tiles can be installed relatively quickly and are easy to trim if necessary.

Noise Reduction

Whether you use your garage as a workshop, a makeshift home gym, or to park your car, it is important that your garage flooring is durable and comfortable.

Rubber is a perfect solution. Not only is it shock absorbent, but it also provides a level of comfort that can’t be beaten. Plus, it’s super easy to clean! Depending on the type of flooring you select, you may have it lay snugly against the walls or use rubber edging with interlocking floor tiles.

If you do the latter, you can lay them down and lock them together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Style

Whether you use your garage for a home gym, workshop, or to keep the car in, you want flooring that will hold up to various uses and still look good. That is where rubber flooring shines.

It comes in tile and roll form that easily interlocks and lays flat and can be cut to fit your space if you need it. It is also super easy to sweep and mop, so you don’t have to worry about those pesky water spots often left behind by other types of flooring.

While epoxy can be set and cured fairly quickly by licensed professionals, most rubber garage flooring is designed as a DIY product that any homeowner can install. The only tool you will likely need is a utility knife to make those small required cuts in the corners.
