  1. Duct Tape

Duct tape can fix air filters on the lunar module, but what can it do for you? Duct tape is water-resistant and very sturdy, which means it’s a great tool for fixing all kinds of things. Here are a few of the most common uses of duct tape:

  • Fixing tents
  • Sealing leaky ductwork
  • Patching a hose
  • Removing lint
  • Removing splinters
  • Temporary bandages
  • Wrapping a sprained ankle

This versatile and useful tool should be a part of any basic tool kit.

  1. Hammer

Next, you need a hammer in your tool kit. Hammers are one of the most essential and basic tools. You can find them in almost any pre-packed tool kit.

Hammers drive nails into walls, and they can also pull them out, too. You can use a hammer to pry things open. They’ll get used a lot if you own a home, so be sure to add a hammer to your basic home tool set.

  1. Screwdriver

If you have kids, then screwdrivers are likely one of your go-to tools. You need a screwdriver to assemble most kid’s toys (and home appliances). You’ll also need one to get into most battery compartments.

There are two main types of screwdrivers. They are a Phillips head and flathead. Both of these basic types should be in your tool kit.

  1. Ladder

Ladders help you reach new heights, so they’re a must-have for any tool kit. You can use them to change lights or clean out gutters.

Ladders can be dangerous. Always verify the maker uses GMPS to produce their products before buying one. The last thing you need is to fall off a defective ladder!

  1. Tape Measure

A tape measure seems simple, but it’s so practical!

They’re used to measure everything — from wood to your own waistline. Any DIYer needs a tape measure in their toolkit. You’ll need it for any type of home project you try to do that involves measurements.

  1. Utility Knife

Have you ever cut yourself attempting to use scissors or a steak knife attempting to open a box?

Solve this problem for good by getting a utility knife. They’re another inexpensive addition to your toolbox.

  1. Flashlight

Have you ever experienced a power outage?

If so, then you know how crucial a simple flashlight can be. It’s also helpful when you’re working on the house and you need to shine a light on the situation.

Get one for your tool kit now!
