1. Oscillating Tool

An oscillating tool is one of the most important remodeling tools you can have in your toolbox. The oscillating tool was invented in the 60s to use in the medical field, but in the 90s, it was customized to be able to be used for woodworking purposes.

This makes it one of the newer tools on this list. However, this is a tool that will have all your neighbors running over to your house, asking to borrow it.

This tool has so many purposes. You can use it to cut through metal or wood. Some of them can even cut through plastic and concrete. You can also scrape paint off your wall.

As if that wasn’t enough, it can also do other things like remove grout, grind, and even sand materials. This tool comes with different attachments that can do whatever you need it to do.

If you’re going to buy one, make sure to choose a tool that comes with attachments suitable to your uses and needs. This feature will surely give value to your money.

Even if you’re not familiar with this tool, it’s not too difficult to use. You can also refer to the manual included in the product so you can familiarize yourself with the proper uses of the tool.

2. Nail Gun

You can use this tool to combine pieces of wood that you can install for redecorating.

A siding nail gun is so much faster than hammering a nail into the wall. It shoots the nail right out and can save you so much time.

This is especially important if you’re planning to work on an extensive home remodeling project. The less time you spend on accomplishing tasks, the faster you can finish your projects.

On top of that, the nail heads won’t be visible afterward. A nail gun will provide clean and flawless nail work, making it very easy for you to enhance your home’s aesthetics and designs.

You do have to be mindful and careful when using this piece of equipment, as with any other piece, because you don’t want to accidentally shoot a nail right through your hand.

3. Speed Square

A speed square, sometimes also called a Quick Square, may be one of the least expensive tools that you buy. However, it is incredibly important to have.

This acts as a guide to make sure that you are cutting things correctly and straight. Without it, your projects may not go as you had envisioned.

You can also use it to figure out angles if you are remodeling stairs or rafters.

Speed Squares come in all kinds of different materials, but it’s probably better to buy a metal one because this one won’t break as easily as a plastic one. It will also last longer, so you won’t have to keep replacing it.

Investing in a metal speed square can expedite the progress of your home remodeling projects as you won’t have to pause because the tool suddenly breaks.

4. Japanese Cat’s Paw

A Japanese cat’s Paw is also a tool that has multiple uses. If you accidentally nail something into the wrong place, you can use this to pull the nail out and start over.

You can also use this if you are doing any trim, demolition, or molding work. That’s because it can pull the nails out for you.

Yes, hammers can be used to pulls nails out, but this tool is much more effective at it. On one end is the claw that will pull out the nail, and on the other end is a chisel that you can use for your other projects.

This tool is relatively inexpensive to add to your toolbox.

5. Measuring Tape

In addition to making sure that your measurements are straight, you do need something to measure with.

If you have a good measuring tape, it could last you for the rest of your remodeling days. You need one that is long enough to measure your bedroom to the garage to the bathroom.

You should get one that has a switch that can hold the measuring tape in place. Once you release the switch, the tape should automatically roll back into the plastic or metal casing.

6. Cordless Drill

Just like the cordless oscillating tool, having a cordless drill is also a great investment. Sometimes wherever you’re modeling won’t have a nearby outlet, and that’s when this tool will come in handy.

The drill normally comes with different attachments as well so that you can use it to do any type of remodeling project.

When purchasing one, make sure that you look for a drill that has multiple speed settings. You should also check to see what kind of battery it has. A cordless drill with a lithium-ion battery will be lighter to use, and the battery will last longer.

7. Ladder

Believe it or not, there are actually so many different kinds of ladders that you can purchase. You will need to decide how tall of one that you’ll want to get.

Also consider if you want fancy attachments, like slots to hold your tools while you’re at the top. You should make sure that the rungs are also comfortable to stand on if you are going to be spending hours on them.

8. Saw

If you are completely remodeling your kitchen, you may want to have a saw handy. If you aren’t sure where to start planning your kitchen remodeling project, you can check out details on software to help you.

There are also different types of saws that you can buy. You can get a handsaw or a table saw. If you are going to be doing a lot of extensive remodeling, we recommend getting both.

Table saws may be expensive, but they are much faster and efficient for jobs that are repetitive. They are also more accurate and precise.

9. Pliers

You may not even think about it, but pliers can really help you out. They are multipurpose as well.

Heavy-duty pliers can actually cut things like electrical wires. Some of them can even cut small pipes. Think of pliers as heavy-duty scissors.

Pliers are also good at gripping things. For example, if you have a screw that just won’t come out, you could try and get a better grip using pliers.
