Since the pandemic began, it seems that more people than ever before have been taking on renovation projects in their homes.

To complete these tasks properly, it is vital that you have the right tools on hand. If you are working with wood or building something with bricks, there are a few power tools you should think about buying.

However, you don’t need to go out to your local DIY store and purchase every tool that you don’t already own.

With so many power tools readily available, it might be slightly overwhelming trying to find the right tools for the right job. These essential tools we will mention in this article are for every skill level.

A Drill

Every DIYer on the planet should own an electric or battery-powered drill. You will find yourself using a drill frequently.

There are plenty of drills available, but most folks opt for cordless drills. Most cordless drills come with a rechargeable battery.

Once charged you can bring them wherever you want to go. They are light, making them easy to carry from point A to point B.

These compact and lightweight tools can be stored in small areas, so you don’t need a lot of spare storage around your home to safely store them.

There are lots of reputable manufacturers that produce different drills, so it might be worth your while researching a few different drills before you spend your hard-earned money on a brand new one.

If you decide to invest in a cordless drill with a rechargeable battery, find out if it comes with a spare battery pack.

If your drill goes out of battery and you are too far from a PowerPoint to allow the drills to run off the mains, you will have a spare battery so you don’t have to wait for the other one to charge.

You will want a drill that has a long life span, so it might be worth spending a little extra on a top-quality model.

Circular Saw

A circular saw has a circular blade that allows you to cut a variety of different materials. The blade that you can fit into the saw will spin at a very high speed to allow you to cut the material you are working on.

It allows you to easily change the height and the angle while you are cutting. For those who work with wood, a circular saw should be one of the first power tools they will have bought.

Similar to cordless drills, most circular saws used for light-duty work are small so you can carry them with you wherever you go.

A lot of power tools used for woodwork projects are big and bulky. Unlike other saws, a circular saw is not confined to one place in your workshop.

In most physical DIY stores and online stores like WiseMakr, you should be able to find cordless circular saws for sale.

A circular saw is a versatile tool, which allows you to make smooth cuts. However, don’t assume all circular saws out there are the same.

Some have a variety of features that can help make your life a lot easier. A lot of modern circular saws on the market come with an LED light so that you can see what you are doing, even when the lightning is not on your side.

Angle Grinder

If you are looking to cut things like pavers or tiles, an angle grinder will be able to help you get the job done properly. It is a tool that is used to do the following:

  • Grinding & sharpening: The main reason why people invest in angle grinders is to sharpen and grind different materials. Before you start to use the device to grind or sharpen material, make sure that you install a suitable grinding disk.
  • Cut metal: As long as you have the correct accessories on hand, an angle grinder will allow you to cut metal bars, rods, and other items made out of metal.
  • Polish: An angle grinder that has been fitted with a buffing wheel will be able to polish lots of different materials including steel and aluminum.

The useful handheld power tool has a cutting head and a rotating disk. You can buy an angle grinder that runs off gasoline or electricity. There are also angle grinders that run off compressed air too.

Conclusion

Power tools can cost a small fortune, so you don’t want to invest in a wide range of tools you might never use.

The tools mentioned above are essential tools that can be used on lots of different materials. Although you might not need any of these tools for the jobs you are working on at the moment, you will probably need them down the line.

Before operating any of these tools, consider asking a seasoned carpenter or construction worker to show you how to safely use each one.
