10 Factors to Consider When Choosing a Personal Bedroom Mattress

When buying a new personal mattress, there are various vital factors that you need to think about first before selecting one from your long list of options.

You cannot just pick any mattress model and expect it to be as comfortable as the seller claims it to be since we have different body types and preferences.

To avoid disappointment, take time considering these factors in determining which mattress fits you the best:

Type of Mattress

When looking for the best mattress, you will have to determine first what type of mattress you would like to use daily, especially at night.

Is it a foam mattress that has a cradling or hug-like sensation when you lie on it? Or an innerspring mattress that has a bouncy and soft feeling when used?

Regardless of your choice, it is recommended that you weigh your options and choose the one that suits your body type.

Size

Buying a new mattress does not only improve the quality of your sleep, but it can also improve the look of your bedroom.

A mattress is among the upgradable items in your bedroom that are worth investing in. So, it would be best if you choose a model that fits your bedroom, especially your bed frame.

To ensure that the mattress you decide to buy fits, you must take time to measure your bed frame accurately.

Body Type and Weight

Your body type and weight should be considered when buying a new mattress, especially when you are still contemplating your options regarding what type of mattress fits you the most.

If you weigh less than 130 lbs to 230 lbs, the best mattress type for you is a foam mattress or a hybrid mattress.

However, if you weigh more than 230 lbs, the most recommended style is a latex mattress.

Comfort and Firmness Level

Determining what feels comfortable when choosing a mattress is easier when we purchase from a physical store because we can at least try testing it or touching it.

But what if we opt to buy online? Luckily, a firmness scale ranging from 1 to 10 describes how soft or firm a mattress is.

A mattress with a score of 1/10 is the softest option, while 10/10 is the firmest. The ideal firmness level of a mattress is 6.5/10.

Quality

Buying a new mattress is a long-term investment that can last up to 10 years if handled and used correctly.

To ensure that it would last for a long time, you must choose a model with the highest quality and durable materials.

Avoid buying an old-looking mattress with some defect or scratches on it.

Budget

Expensiveness does not equate to quality. Thus, when buying a new personal mattress, you must always stick to your budget.

Don’t fall prey to brands that offer costly beds. Instead, always choose a model that ensures quality and durability.

Temperature

If you are the kind of person that gets easily sweaty and irritated when the weather is hot or finds it hard to sleep when the surrounding is humid, memory foam mattresses are not the right fit for you.

Memory foam mattresses tend to hold more heat than other types of mattresses.

Sleeping Position

We tend to shift sleeping positions when we are uncomfortable in bed, but each of us has the signature position that makes us doze off quickly.

When choosing a mattress, you must know what sleeping position makes you feel relaxed and comfortable to determine which mattress type and firmness level is the best for you.

For instance, if you are a side-sleeper, medium-soft or medium-firm (4/10 to 6/10) is the most recommended for you.

Warranty

When looking or shopping for a mattress, whether online or from a physical store, choosing one with an agreeable warranty is advantageous.

If you spot a defect on the mattress after you buy it, a warranty allows you to request a replacement or a repair from the seller.

Good Reviews

If you don’t know where to buy high-quality and durable mattresses, you may ask your friends for suggestions and recommendations.

You may also read some online reviews about the mattress you are about to purchase to ensure it is worth the money.

Go for the mattress model with good to excellent reviews, and take bad reviews as a red flag.

Takeaway

We cannot comfortably take a rest and sleep at night without a mattress to lie on. So, before you throw away your old worn-out mattress, you must find a replacement first.

When looking for a replacement, always take time considering the factors mentioned above. When adequately checked and thought about, these factors would help you get the best mattress model for you.
