Some of us love gardening. We happily spend hours pottering around in our gardens, pruning and preening, planting and moving.

We’re in our element when springtime hits, as we can start spending more time outside in our gardens, and we’re always on the lookout for a new project to improve our space and fill our times.

But this isn’t true for everyone. You might love the idea of sitting out in a gorgeous garden, surrounded by beautiful colors, wildlife, and different aromas, but hate the idea of putting all of the work in to create and maintain it.

This is a shame. Without a love of gardening, it’s hard to keep on top of all of the little jobs that need doing to keep your outdoor space looking great, and you are unlikely to reap the rewards that having a lovely garden brings.

Fortunately, there are some things that you can do to help yourself fall in love with gardening.

Make it Easier for Yourself

Gardening can be tough. It’s not always easy, and if you don’t enjoy it, you might not want to get stuck into the more challenging work, and you may find all of the maintenance overwhelming.

So, make it easier on yourself.

Invest in hardy plants that need little care, make sure you’ve got quality tools, like a good lawnmower that takes some of the elbows greases out of maintaining your lawn and find a good lawn treatment that means your grass always looks amazing, without too much work on your part.

Champion Green offers lawn fertilization and a tailored lawn treatment program to meet each specific season’s needs, helping to fight off weeds, thicken and develop your lawn, and cope with the stresses of the seasons.

Grow Your Own Food

Some people don’t enjoy gardening because they just don’t care about flowers and plants. They’d rather have a straightforward patch of grass. But what about growing your own food?

There are many benefits to growing your own food. It can save you money, it is better for you, and often even tastes better than store-bought produce. Try growing some of your favorites, and you might suddenly find a new respect for your outdoor space.

Give Yourself Small Projects

If you feel overwhelmed, keep things small. Give yourself small tasks, like creating a colorful hanging basket or window box, instead of tackling the whole area.

Small tasks like this can be very rewarding, as you get to enjoy the results fairly quickly. Who knows, a few small projects might ignite a new love of gardening.

Enjoy the Exercise

There are many advantages to spending more time working in your garden. It can be an excellent mental health boost and help you to get more fresh air. But, it’s also a fantastic exercise.

A morning of hard work in your garden works your muscles, boosts your heart rate and circulation, and burns calories.

Not everyone loves gardening. You might never enjoy working with your hands like this as much as other people do. But, even with a few small projects, and a very simple garden, you can start to reap the rewards of being outdoors more.
