Keeping your home clean and spotless can become a chore. However, keeping everything in order doesn’t have to take so much of your time.

All you need is to develop good habits to keep all the rooms in your house tidy. Aside from that, investing in storage and tools also makes a huge difference in keeping your space clutter-free.

To maintain a more organized space, you should also learn some labeling techniques. This way you can keep track of your belongings and where you store them.

  1. Make Your Bed When You Wake Up

For some people, making their bed in the morning is a waste of time. However, starting your day with this good habit will make a huge difference.

If you don’t want to be hassled with making your bed every day, choose minimalist bedding. You can also reduce the number of pillows on the bed and using a large comforter or duvet so you won’t need to tuck in your sheets in the morning.

  1. Wash One Load of Laundry a Day

Doing laundry once or twice a week will lead to a pile load of clutter in your laundry area or wherever you keep your soiled clothes.

To limit the clutter, and avoid the stress of doing loads of laundry per week, make it a habit to put in one laundry load in the morning before you go about your day. If your machine has a delay feature, turn it on so you won’t have to check on it within the day frequently.

  1. Save 15 Minutes to Clean Up Before You Go to Bed

No one wants to wake up to a disorganized living space. Make it a routine to do a 15-minute nightly clean-up before you go to bed.

If you’re living with your family, you can assign tasks for each member like putting away the laundry, keeping the toys away, cleaning the table, or wiping the counters.

If you live alone, you can do simple chores like clearing out your dining table, wiping your kitchen counters, or quickly decluttering your living room.

  1. Keep the Living Room Tidy

If the kitchen is the most-used space in the house, the living room, on the other hand, receives the most traffic.

The living room can become easily littered with an assortment of items like shoes, toys, clothes, and bags. To keep the living room tidy, you should have enough storage spaces, like shoe racks and bookshelves, to organize your belongings.

You can also add hidden storage spaces under the coffee table or in drawers beside the couch. If you don’t have enough storage in your home, maximize the space in your drawers by using vacuum sealers. To learn more about vacuum sealers, click here.

  1. Maintain Minimal Lifestyle

You tend to become untidy when you have too many items in your home. To keep your home organized, you need to remember the three Rs:

  • Reduce – Evaluate your home items and check which of items are better off with a new owner. You can choose to donate or sell unused items so you can free up space in your home.
  • Resourcefulness – When you have fewer items in your home, you will find more creative ways to use what you currently have.
  • Resiliency – Fight the urge to buy more items that you might not really need.
  1. Keep Your Kitchen Clean

A kitchen is a great place where you can focus clean for 15 minutes a day because it’s one of the house’s most-used spaces. Dishes tend to be the culprit when it comes to the untidy kitchen.

To keep everything in order, never leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight. Before you go to bed, make sure that you wash the dishes and store them in their proper places, so you will have a pleasant morning when you drink your coffee.

If you have a small kitchen, it’s good to invest in storage items to keep everything in order.

  1. Clear Off Flat Spaces

Flat spaces like kitchen countertops, office tables, and living room coffee tables are clutter magnets. It’s okay to leave some items on your countertops, but make sure that items you don’t frequently use are put in their appropriate places. Store away those food items that are supposed to be in the pantry.

It’s easy to leave books or papers on the coffee table in your living room, but it will make the space look untidy. Every time you see something on a flat surface, evaluate if that item is supposed to be there, and if not, store it in its proper place.

Final Thoughts

Keeping your home tidy doesn’t require deep cleaning every single day. To keep everything in order, you should practice good cleaning habits. Ensure that you keep things in their designated places and spend at least 15 minutes cleaning those spaces. This way, you won’t need to deal with bigger messes in the long run.
