When it comes to homeownership, there is a reason that kitchens are often the deciding factor. For families, this is the area of the home where they will spend the most time together, preparing and sharing meals.

Plus, cooking is a creative outlet, which means the kitchen does double-duty in keeping spirits high and bellies full.

As a result, it is critical to keep the space fresh, fun, and exciting. But it is also hard to accomplish this goal as stuck-on grease, tired designs, and old appliances can stubbornly make the space unpleasant or even inhospitable.

And, with the high cost of kitchen renovations, it can almost start to feel like you are trapped between a rock and a hard place when it comes to updating your cooking space.

However, that does not have to be the case. Instead, you can follow the tips we outline to revitalize, refresh, rejuvenate, and reinvigorate your kitchen with ease and simplicity.

Below, we review the simplest and easiest methods of giving your kitchen a facelift, including painting, simplifying, and replacing. Check out trademarkrenovations.com for more information.

Painting

To begin with, painting does not always refer to your walls. Of course, in the best circumstances, you do want to completely repaint your walls and give them a consistently fresh new look.

However, paint is a relatively cheap building material, and it can do wonders for all sorts of materials, objects, and spaces. Therefore, consider some alternative areas for your weekend painting update.

Take, for instance, your kitchen cabinets. Everyone knows you have to sand down the old finish, take off all the hardware, and do multiple coats to make them look good.

However, there are now paints available that only need to adhere to a slightly-roughened surface. Using these, you can apply a quick and effective coat of paint just to the exterior of your cabinets.

Simplifying

Simplifying your kitchen should not be overthought. Yes, that might sound tongue-in-cheek, but it is actually very true. For best results, simply stand in the entrance of your kitchen, and look around.

Focus on the surfaces where you can place things, and see how much stuff you have sitting on them. Then, look into your cabinets. If objects fall out when you open them, it might be time to simplify.

One of the best things to simplify is small appliances. Honestly, it is hard to tell if a miniature gremlin sneaks them in while we sleep, or if they just make the best presents, but there always seems to be a surplus of gadgetry and equipment in modern kitchens.

Breadmakers, rice cookers, blenders, grinders, stand-up mixers, egg beaters, artisanal fruit cutters; there is simply no stopping this modern barrage of cooking utensils. But, on your weekend remodel, you can put an end to this particular tyranny.

Replacing

Replacing objects during your impromptu kitchen renovations can be the most expensive option, but also the one that has the biggest impact on your happiness and pride in this cooking room.

Consider replacing your old appliances, even if you are only going to do one at a time. A new stove or oven can make a radical difference to your kitchen’s look and feel.

But appliances are not the only option available for you to replace. You can also consider replacing your cabinets, countertops, or backsplash tiling. Ultimately, the important part of replacement is that you take stock of what will no longer work in your kitchen and find something new to work with instead.
