Rugs are perfect for adding color, warmth, or finishing touch to any room, no matter the size.

And they are easier to maintain than carpets. Rugs and home décor go hand in hand.

Oriental rugs have long been a favorite for giving rooms character with their vibrant colors and intricate designs.

However, rug designs today come in various shapes and materials, so you can find something perfect for your home, whether it’s traditional or modern.

Shapes and sizes vary from flatweaves that can be used under furniture to dhurries ideal for high traffic areas of the home.

A small rug next to your bed is a quick way to add some interest to what an ordinary bedroom carpet or wood flooring would otherwise be.

Simply selecting the right rug in any room of your home makes it look cozier.

You can find a wide variety of them in rugs for sale online.

Rugs are made from natural or synthetic fibers. Still, the most popular is “chenille,” which has a cotton base with polyester yarns added to give the product its distinctive soft feel and luxurious high sheen.

Chenilles come in different thicknesses. A thin rug will have only one pile layer, while medium-width chenilles have three or four layers. The thicker the rug, the more comfortable it feels underfoot.

Thickness Also Affects Durability

Thin rugs don’t last long if they’re walked on regularly, whereas medium-thickness ones are perfect for homes where there are children or pets that shed hair and busy areas like hallways and kitchens.

Care and Cleaning

Clean spills immediately by blotting with a clean cloth or sponge. The rug pile will flatten underfoot with use sometimes more in high-traffic areas but this shouldn’t affect its appearance.

Professional rug cleaning is recommended every 12 to 18 months. If you’re unsure if your rug needs it, touch the surface lightly; if there’s any dust, then it needs professional care.

Hand washes chenille rugs in lukewarm water using a mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly in fresh cold water and dry flat away from direct heat and sunlight.

When buying new Oriental rugs, check that they come with a label indicating they’ve been cleaned and approved for use in your home.

Expert Tip

Make sure your rug’s color matches the rest of the interior decoration. For example, choose warm colors if you have wooden furniture or cool grey tones if you have black pieces.

Colour is also an important consideration when choosing a rug for your bedroom.

If your room is painted in dark shades, opt for lighter-colored rugs to make the space more inviting.

On the other hand, you might want darker colors to create a calming retreat from the workaday world.”

Rugs are great additions to any home because they add color and texture to any room.

They are easier to clean than thicker carpets because they can be taken outside and beaten as well as vacuumed easily.
