Keeping employees and customers safe requires a smoke removal system for businesses, stores, and retail outlets that allow patrons to smoke indoors. Ventilation alone is not enough.

Carcinogens in the air can also cause diseases and damage your products, property, and the environment as a whole. Moreover, removing carcinogens from the air will improve the odor and reduce the amount of haze in the environment.

Smoke removal systems are often needed by the following businesses:

  • Pubs that serve cigars
  • Casinos
  • Restaurants and bars that serve hookah
  • Bingo halls
  • Other facilities used by membership organizations, such as VFW halls
  • Shops selling vaping products
  • Nightclubs and bars
  • Lounges and cigar bars

Commercial smoke eaters are needed in any business where people smoke indoors. In businesses where smoking is allowed indoors, such as cigar bars or hookah lounges, you will also need to know the local smoke removal laws that apply to your business.

Mistake 1: Neglecting the Smoke Issue and Doing Nothing

In spite of the fact that there are dozens of brands available on the market, there are only two kinds of smoke eaters. So, it’s important to understand your commercial area’s needs before choosing a smoke eater.

Electrostatic

Smoke particles are collected by negatively and positively charged metal plates. The odors can be removed by producing ozone. Some people refer to this type of air cleaner as an electronic air cleaner.

Electronic

Negative ionization is commonly used in electronic smoke removers to remove odors. By-products from these processes produce ozone, which neutralizes smells.

Ozone Generator

An ozone generator is a device that emits large amounts of ozone in order to quickly eliminate smells. Ozone is very effective; however, it is dangerous for your lungs.

People should avoid being in the room at the same time when the ozone is being used. This is similar to fumigating a room to kill bugs.

Although it’s very effective, while it’s active, you shouldn’t breathe it in. Due to California’s 2010 standards set for ozone emission, ozone generators cannot be used in residential buildings.

Activated Carbon

When activated, carbon acts as an adsorbent for VOCs, smoke, and gasses. Although carbon alone may not be effective in eliminating all types of gasses like formaldehyde, it provides a safe and ozone-free way to remove the majority of gasses.

Mistake 2: Insufficient Filtering

Under-filtering the air is the most common mistake made by business owners. Using too small of a smoke eater system for commercial use is similar to installing an HVAC system that is too small.

You need the right cooling tonnage to effectively reduce the heat from the air. Air conditioners that are too small will fail in cooling the room, and smoke eaters that are too small will not eliminate the smell of smoke.

Smoke eaters and air purifiers are expensive. Although maintaining your smoke eaters helps, in the end, you still need a sufficient amount of cleaning capacity.

By purchasing the best smoke eater, you will have no need to worry about hazardous airborne particles.

As a result, pollution is filtered out of the air, leaving it fresh and clean. The efficiency of smoke eaters makes them a good investment, and they have been getting more popular in recent years.
