There’s more to pest control than keeping termites, ants, and other bugs out of your home. You want to keep these and other pests as far away as possible. This requires you to consider your yard.

A garden, no matter how big or small is often a breeding ground or lure for many pests other than insects.

Here is some information about various other tormenters and tips on how to keep your garden pest-free.

Squirrels and Chipmunks

They’re in just about every backyard. Most homeowners think that these are inherent pests, that there’s nothing you can do to get rid of them, and that they’re forever be picking apart our plants and ruining our scenery. They’re wrong.

These backyard rodents are often found in birdfeeders. Some manufacturers have come up with a solution to that, counter-weighted or electrified perches shocking any squirrel that tries to take advantage.

Repellents like cayenne pepper mix, predator urine, and mothballs are some home remedies.

Dog

It is very important to choose the right dog trap and set it up, trap it, and monitor it properly. Some wrong trap might harm your dog or allow them to get away, that’s why we should buy the right Dingo Traps Online.

Mice and Rats

For around your home, getting rid of the things that lure rodents is often the best way to fend them off. By removing food, water, and shelter, (the necessities for any creature) the pests won’t have a reason to bother you.

Make sure your garbage cans are sealed and don’t leave pet food dishes out.

Since the whole point of a garden is to grow food, and not get rid of it, traps are a key part of garden rodent control. From glue traps to humane traps, these tools have proven time and time again to get rid of rodents effectively and safely.

Another popular tool is an ammonium-based repellent.

Rabbits

An animal loved by children but despised by gardeners is the rabbit. Cute and cuddly as they may be, Rabbits can be very destructive in a lush garden. Trick crops are often used in agriculture to distract animals like rabbits from eating prize crops. Alfalfa and clover work well too.

A bunny is also attracted to things like peas, beans, lettuce, flowers, and even bark (yes, they eat things other than carrots). Just like those who keep them as pets, some fence in or trap them.

Birds

The best way to keep birds at bay is fear. Noisemakers like radios and reflective materials are widely successful. Some, however, chose to keep birds around. Many feeds on insects and weed seeds.

Be sure you know a bird before you decide to let it stay. It may also feed on your plants or crops. Others choose one of the many repellents available.

However, the best, safest, and least obtrusive method is probably netting. This allows you to cover your plants without hindering their growth or bothering your neighbors.
