Things You Can Never Afford to Leave Out When Preparing for a Move

While there could be a long things-to-do list, here are some of the things that you can’t afford to leave out while preparing for a move;

Cleaning

This is something not a lot of people do when they are moving. Well, it is not like you are obliged to clean the whole place before vacating.

But there are definitely places and spots you must clean. This includes;

  • You want to make sure you clean out or remove every personal thing.

This includes shelves you made, closet items, wall art, and just about any other furniture you moved in with.

  • You also want to dust down particular surfaces.

Wipe and clean kitchen countertops, bookshelves, window panes, bathroom countertops, and any other hard surfaces you feel you need to clean.

  • You also want to clean appliances such as a fridge, microwave, and washing machine.

While it doesn’t seem like it matters, you still don’t want to leave fingerprints on these.

  • Toilets, showers, bathtubs, and sinks are also things you want to clean.

Make sure to remove any mildew, mold, or dust that may have grown before moving out.

  • Also, remove any nails and hooks screwed into walls.

You might also want to fill these holes or do any necessary repairs lest you incur damage charges from the owner.

Clear and Clean Your Fridge

You should already know you will move in a couple of days or a couple of weeks away before the moving date.

The last thing you want is to waste any food. Make sure you clear and clean all the food in the fridge before the moving date.

Some foodstuff can be packaged and moved and still reach the next destination in good condition. Others can’t.

Get rid of expired food. As for the remaining, if they are not perishable or rather portable, you can opt to share them with your neighbors, friends, or even donate them to charity.

It is a much better option than throwing them away.

Prepare Your Pet(S) or Moving

Pets are an important part of our lives and if you have one, you have to make sure you are well-prepared to help him move and they are also well-ready.

For example, if you are going to need a crate for the move, train them. Most dogs and other pets are already used to create but if yours has never been into one, they most definitely would like it if you force them into one for the first time.

You also want to make sure you do the necessary packing for your pet. Make sure you have enough food and water for them.

Towels, beddings, and some treats and toys would also be great to carry for your pet during the trip.

Handling Large Appliances and Heavy Furniture

If you furnished your own apartments, then chances are most of the items in the house are your belongings.

This includes couches and beds. The first thing you should do is to identify all the furniture and appliances that you will be moving as well.

You can always find movers in Park City, Utah, to handle that. But you also need to know what appliances you will be moving upfront.

If need be, find the tools and necessary equipment you will need to disassemble those that would need dissembling earlier on to avoid the last-minute rush.

Storage

It is not always that you will need to rent temporary storage when you are moving. Besides, your movers should be able to handle that for you.

But you need to figure out if you will need temporary storage and for what items. Also, for how long you will need to rent for.
