What To Do About a Faulty Boiler

Yearly Boiler Servicing

It is best to start simple. This means getting a professional that you can trust to maintain your boiler on a yearly basis. Corgi Homeplan will cover your boiler and ensure it is in full working order. They should basically examine all of the components of your boiler and ensure that they are all working as they should.

When it comes to commercial properties, servicing the boilers every year is essential in order to be compliant. These are statutory rules that were created to ensure that commercial property is always safe.

This maintenance work should be done by a Gas Safe Engineer. They will actually lengthen your the lifespan of the boiler by ensuring it is always working well and prevent any existing problems from worsening which can lead to very expensive damage.

Go Through the Manual

Whenever you buy a new boiler or even when you move into a new home, it is very important that you get familiar with the boiler, even if it is boring to do so. You should become educated on exactly how it works and this will help you to easily figure out when it isn’t functioning as it should. By doing this, you will be able to easily identify when repairs are required.

Now, it is very important that you don’t attempt to fix your boiler on your own!

If you have problems with your boiler and it needs to be repaired, then you should call a Gas Safe Engineer to check it.

This is extremely important to take care of your boiler as well as ensure the safety of your household and yourself. Do note that only Gas Safe engineers are supposed to repair and maintain boilers.

You shouldn’t take any risks and always contact a professional, especially when there are emergencies.

Preventing Freezing Pipes

The first thing that you need to do is lag the pipes. This is where you insulate them before winter comes and the temperature is freezing.

Then, when it is winter, your heating system can be utilized to ensure your pipes are warm 24/7. This is great since your heating system will not only be able to keep you warm but also your pipes.

Even if you’re not home, you should still have your heating on for some time. This will ensure that your pipes are still being heated and it will also make your home warm for whenever you return.

The cost of gas is likely something that you’ll worry about, so always check out the cost of fixing and even getting frozen pipes replaced. Once you know the cost, this will help you to make your decision.

Maintaining Your Radiators

It is very important that you not only maintain your boiler but also your entire heating system.

If you find that your radiator is cold near the top and warm on the bottom portion, this signifies that it has air trapped. If this occurs, then this means that it requires a radiator bleeding.

Once the radiator’s valve isn’t overly stiff, it is a simple process to get rid of the trapped air. All you need to do is turn the valve until you hear a hissing sound. Once the hissing sound stops, you can turn it back off. If you have carpet, make sure and remove or protect it since radiator bleeding will likely cause water leakage.

Additionally, you should remember that the greater the distance between the radiator and boiler, the cooler the radiator will be. It is important to balance the radiator to ensure that the heat is well spread among the pipes and in your home. This is not as simple as radiator bleeding and you’ll definitely need a professional to do it.
