Form or Shape

A form is the shape of the room, in other words, is the physical form of anything present in the room. Forms can be described as either geometric or natural.

Pattern

A pattern is similar to the texture that makes the room appealing. A pattern is created using a repetitive design and can be found in furnishings, rugs, fabrics, etc.

Some examples of patterns are stripes, motif, animal prints, stripes, etc. The pattern adds style to the room and must be selected considering the room’s size.

Use patterns sparingly in smaller rooms to make them less cluttered.

Light

Light is a critical aspect of interior design, be it man-made or natural. Light helps in enhancing other elements in interior design.

Light can be categorized into three types- task lighting, accent lighting, and mood lighting.

Before choosing lighting in a place it is important to discuss the activities that will be done in the space. Both the quality and quantity should be assessed here.

Colour

Choosing the right color is a mix of science and creativity. It is an extremely important element that can create a mood.

The usage of the psychology of color shouldn’t be underestimated as colors can evoke memories and stir emotions, stimulating a physical and psychological response in our bodies.

Texture

The texture is an element that is often overlooked. It is the tactile surface of an object or finish.

Texture can bring a unique dimension to the room and give a space a sense of depth.

It can add interest and detail, making it visually pleasing to the eye and give a room a feeling.
