In a technologically driven world, electronics are ever-changing devices, and that includes wireless door and window sensors. What is on the market today for home security use is useful, but that doesn’t mean that things aren’t going to improve in the future.

Right now, if you have a home security system, there are door and window sensors scattered throughout your home and the main keypad for control somewhere near a door. That large box screams to anyone entering your home that the property is protected.

Integrating Sensors With Lighting

One of the ideas to the drastic improvements that you can expect to see when it comes to window and door sensors that are already providing security for your home is the integration of your lighting within the system.

When a burglar arrives at your house and sets off the system, not only will the alarm sound and alert whatever monitoring is in place, your lights will also be signaled to turn on. It will give the intruder the idea that there is someone in the home and they will likely be scared off without making it in.

Additional Monitoring Through Video Surveillance

While window and door sensors provide a certain level of security, you don’t really know what’s going on if one of them is activated. Sure, you get the recognition that someone or something has disrupted the system, but you don’t have any clue as to what that is.

With video monitoring, even done remotely from a smartphone or other portable device, you will have the option of turning on your cameras to see inside the home if you aren’t there. Additionally, these cameras will allow you to check to see what’s going on if the alarms haven’t been set off. It’s an effective way to check in on your family or your pets if you can’t be around to do it personally.

Integrating Smart Systems

As part of your security system, your window and door sensors are needed to keep the bad people out. However, with all that technology can do today, you are going to have the option of turning your alarm system into something more than just security.

Through the integration of other systems in your home and the remote device you use to control it, you will also be able to do things like control the thermostat and lighting. Those are convenient options when you have to stay away from home for longer than what you expected. It’s a small investment to get everything wired up properly, but the energy savings alone will pay for itself in a very short time.

Doorbells Taking Photographs

Do you ever wonder who was at your house while you weren’t there? More importantly, do you ever think about who’s at the front door while you’re inside? Instead of taking the risk of opening the front door to someone that is there to cause you harm, you can turn on the doorbell video camera and take a look for yourself.

Then, you can determine if you want to answer it or not. It’s also helpful if you are away from home and someone you didn’t want to miss shows up. You can even talk to the people that are standing on your porch from any location through the use of the microphone and speakers that some of the devices come equipped with.

Safety in Sensors

Your sensors of the future are going to be able to do much more than just tell you that there is an intruder nearby. You want to be able to protect your family from harm at all costs, and that sometimes goes beyond having a burglar enter the home. Think about how many people die or are injured due to carbon monoxide poisoning every year.

These advanced sensors will not only be able to tell you that there is carbon monoxide present but if it’s paired with an appliance of the same brand, it will be able to turn off whatever piece of equipment the deadly gases are coming from to prevent any further contamination and danger to your loved ones.

Full Automation of the Future

Door and window sensors are just the tips of the iceberg when it comes to what sensors of the future will be like. It’s expected that, if consumers desire it, they can have sensors monitoring their every move inside their home to make their lives fully automated.

Think about sensors that pick up when you enter a room, and then the lights get brighter, and the temperature is adjusted to your liking. It may seem like a bit of an invasion of privacy, but for some, the convenience of letting your house do the work for you is more desirable than staying hidden.
