4 Summer Games You Can Play in Your Backyard

If you are looking for games to ramp up the summer fun at your house, we have you covered. In this blog post, we will share 4 amazing game ideas for children and adults of all ages.

From mini-golf and lawn bowling to bean bag bowl toss and matching games, these summer activities will ensure that the whole family has fun in the sun!

1. Mini-Golf

If you have a couple of clubs and a few golf balls lying around, then it’s easy to create a fun obstacle course for everyone to tackle. With this game, you can be as creative as you like and set up a winding course that goes back and forth throughout your backyard.

You can devise a whole series of short holes with obstacles to make things trickier or have one long hole where players need to persevere to make it to the finish in as few shots as possible.

You can create DIY ramps and other features to make it even more challenging. You can add a mat for your golf simulator to your setup. This will protect the surface of your deck or lawn and accommodate your swing style with ease. Turn your backyard into a place for games and summer fun with hardscaping.

2. Backyard Bowling

While it’s pretty easy to find lawn bowling pins for sale online, you can also be creative with some homemade pins. The same goes for the ball even a soccer ball or basketball will do the trick!

Simply set up 10 pins at one end of your backyard and let everyone take turns trying to knock down as many as they can. Games like these are also great for getting children to practice their counting skills in a fun way.

3. Bean Bag Bowl Toss

To play this game, get 5 medium-sized bowls and write a different value on the front of each (10 points, 20 points, 30 points, etc.,) and space them out evenly so that the highest value bowl is the furthest away.

Then, have competitors take it in turns to throw their bean bags at the bowls. The higher value bowls will be more difficult to score into, so there is a challenge for even older children and adults.

4. Matching Games

To prepare for this game, cut out a series of cardboard squares and paint designs on each of them (for example, different fruits are a great idea). Each design should be painted onto two cardboard squares.

To play the game, lay out all of the cardboard squares face down on the ground. Players then need to try and guess where the pairs are. Once they turn one square over, they need to guess where their partner is hiding. It’s a fun game that helps to improve memory skills at the same time.
