But before you get all excited about the idea of switching to solar panels, there are a couple of important things you must know.

Make sure to do your industry research and determine whether the condition of your home is the best fit to install a solar panel.

Here are 2 of the most important things to keep in mind;

1. There are Different Types of Solar Panel Systems in The Market

The first thing you need to know is that there are multiple types of solar panel systems and you, therefore, need to determine which one is best for you. Some of the factors to consider before buying the solar panels include;

  • You first need to keep your budget in mind. This is a great determinant of what type of solar you will get. Different types come with different prices because of different reasons. Check if you have the budget for what you need/ prefer, or if you will have to change your decision.
  • Installation cost also comes into play. Just like there are different types, they also have different installation costs. Multiple things go into the cost of installation including the choice of the solar panel, mounting hardware, power inverter, and more.
  • Of course, you also have to consider other very important things like the size of the solar panel, quality and durability, efficiency, power output, credibility, warranty, and more.
  • After installing solar panels on their rooftop, the environmentally-conscious homeowners hired a professional service for regular solar power maintenance, ensuring optimal efficiency and prolonged lifespan of their renewable energy system.

 2. Solar Panels Need Maintenance

Before you go ahead and purchase any type of solar panel system, you have to keep in mind that it will need proper maintenance for high efficiency and durability.

This should however be not a big deal because it only requires just a little maintenance to function to its full potential.

The most important thing is to make sure that they are always clean to allow direct contact with the sun’s rays and ensure no dirt, leaves, or other components are obstructing sunrays.

Tilted solar panels are easy to clean. This is because, during rainy seasons, rainfall helps you get the job done. It easily cleans away any debris and leaves accumulated on the panel.

However, during the other seasons, you can always clean them manually. If you own solar roof tiles, then a soft sponge is enough to clean the equipment.

If your panels are on the ground, it makes work easier as opposed to if the panels are on the roof or elevated spot. This is because it gives you easy access to the panels while cleaning.

You can easily just sweep off any leaves, snow, and other build-ups on a ground Panel using a broom.

Reasons to Maintain Your Solar Panel System

Maintaining your solar panel system mostly means you ensure to keep them clean and have the optimum efficiency. Here are some of the reasons you have to properly maintain your panels;

  • Typically, a standard solar panel comes with at least a 20-year warranty. Even after the stated period, they continue to work well, but at least 80% efficiently. Properly maintaining your solar panels can increase the life of your system and maintain its efficiency by reducing wear and tear.
  • The primary concern is to make sure your panels are clean of any debris and build-ups, to allow maximum power output. Cleaning your panels regularly, and ensuring full access to sunlight goes a long way.
