Different Weights

Aluminum is much lighter than carbon fiber. This is because carbon fiber is denser than aluminum. As a result, a given volume of carbon fiber will weigh more than the same volume of aluminum.

Additionally, carbon fiber is stronger than aluminum. This means that, for a given weight, carbon fiber will be able to support more load than aluminum.

Carbon fiber is often used in high-performance applications. Where weight and strength are critical such as in aerospace and racing. Carbon fiber is also more difficult to work with than aluminum. It is often reserved for applications where precision is key.

Different Stiffness

Aluminum is less stiff than carbon fiber due to the fact that aluminum is a much softer metal than carbon fiber. As a result, aluminum is more prone to deform under load.

Carbon fiber has a higher specific stiffness than aluminum. This means that, for a given weight, carbon fiber tips are stiffer than their aluminum counterpart.

Finally, carbon fiber has a much higher strength-to-weight ratio than aluminum. This means that pound for pound, carbon fiber is much stronger than aluminum.

Aluminum is much cheaper to produce than carbon fiber making it the more affordable option for many people. Carbon fiber is much more expensive to ship and transport than aluminum. But, carbon fiber is often seen as being more durable and of higher quality than aluminum.

Carbon fiber is more expensive to repair than aluminum and is much more likely to corrode than aluminum. It requires less maintenance over time. Thus, it may be worth the extra cost for some consumers.

Different Aesthetics

Carbon fiber is often perceived as being more modern and stylish. Aluminum has a more classic, timeless look. It is smooth while carbon fiber has a rougher surface.
