5 Best Ideas to Disguise Home Security Cameras

But thanks to technology, there are now security devices that elevate your home’s security, and one of which is a security camera.

Deciding to install a security camera in your home requires you to think of the best areas to hide them from suspects and intruders.

After all, you wouldn’t want them to dismantle or break these devices so they can continue to steal and conduct crimes on your property.

Having surveillance for potential break-ins can be achieved most efficiently by hiding these gadgets in unanticipated corners and nooks of your home. But where exactly are they?

Check out the following ideas for disguising your home security cameras:

1. Household Items

Place your NVR security cameras in a natural environment to blend in. No one would ever suspect these cameras to be among the household items in your home. There are many creative ways to disguise this security gadget in some of your common decorations and things:

  • Books

You may have some books displayed on a shelf placed in the center of your living space. You can insert the camera in between some piles of books. Burglars won’t ever think that it’s placed there.

  • Curtain Rods

Installing a small camera high up makes it harder to detect it. And it can survey the entire floor area easily because of its high location.

  • Entertainment Space

Integrate cameras in media centers. It could be in your TV stand, shelf, or media cabinets. This allows a clear peripheral view of what the criminals are doing.

  • Kid’s Toys

You can keep tabs on your kids and babysitters with a stuffed animal in a nursery. Insert a camera in between these plush toys, so you’ll see how things are going with your absence.

  • Tissue Boxes

Tissue box side holes can be cut to accommodate a converter camera. This is another great idea to disguise your security cameras at home. And this can be placed anywhere too.

2. Plant’s Foliage

Despite being simple, this one is highly effective. Can a home security camera be found in the leaves of a house plant? Who would think to do that? This is an excellent answer if you’ve been thinking about how to hide your camera wires.

You can hide all the cables into the stem of the plant’s foliage. Simply arrange the leaves so the camera can still see through them without being too obvious.

This disguising idea is best for people who want to monitor their homes. If you have a garden or have plants around you indoors and outdoors, you can easily select a specific plant to mount your security camera on.

Remember that multiple plants will further reduce the attention drawn, so try to hide it in a group of plants.

3. Electrical Outlet

There are many reasons to invest in home security systems, and installing hidden cameras could be the soundest decision you can make. You can cleverly hide your security camera through electrical outlets. Nobody would expect an outlet to carry a security gadget anyway.

You can make it appear like an electrical outlet, but it’s actually intended to accommodate your security camera.

It’s as simple as taking off the backing, placing your home camera in the designated location, replacing the backing, and positioning it like any other outlet.

This idea is specifically great for wireless cameras. Aside from securing your home from burglars, this camera can also monitor your workers, nanny, and possible home intruders when you’re out of your property.

4. High Places

The odds of burglars looking up are slimmer when they enter your home. Therefore, take advantage of this idea and install your cameras up high.

The tops of cabinets, light fixtures, or artwork hung high on the wall are great places to hide a camera. The key is to try out the camera performance and design the perfect angle to cover the right areas you need to be secured.

If you want a camera that blends in with the room, you can paint it or cover it with something else. Depending on the height of the placement, make sure there are no possibilities of them slipping or falling as they’ll damage your device.

5. Bird House

Despite its common use, this method is still effective at hiding cameras. There are many tips for birdhouse design and building. Be sure that leaves or branches don’t cover the birdhouse lens and face the front door.

Ensure that nothing is blocking the camera’s view by checking this periodically. Since the birdhouse is located outdoors, use security cameras built for outdoor use.

Conclusion

The tips mentioned above are some discreet ways to disguise your security cameras. Put them in the places where burglars will try to enter most often.

The entryway, doorway, and focal area of your living room should be great locations to set up your disguised cameras. Hopefully, your home and family will be safer and more secure upon implementing these ideas.
