3 Effective Ways to Market Your Business Online as a Tradesman

You have a great product or service to offer, and now you want to put it on display for the world to see. You need a digital marketing strategy that will do wonders for your business, and it’s easier than you think. If you want to meet your business goals, you need to get in front of the people with the problem you want to solve.

Your marketing strategy is an essential part of your business plan. Digital marketing is very popular, and you have the opportunity to scale your business as much as you want using this method.

Why is Digital Marketing So Effective?

Traditional marketing usually “casts a wide net” to advertise to as many people as possible. But two things make digital marketing much more effective–targeting and analytics . When you market your business online, you speak directly to the people you want as customers.

These customers are already primed to purchase from you because they are actively searching for your service or product. They want a solution to their problem. Marketing your business online will also make it easier to organize and analyze data to be sure your marketing strategy is working.

You could easily spend eight to ten percent or more of your business budget on marketing. You should be sure you’re getting a return on your investment, which requires constantly measuring how well a strategy is working. This probably sounds complicated, but it’s easier than you think.

Another great thing about digital marketing is you don’t have to do it yourself. You can if you want. But you can also pay someone else to do it and save time. Here are three effective ways to get your name out there. The choice is yours.

Use Social Media to Attract Your Ideal Customer

You may be thinking social media marketing requires a lot of time and effort that you don’t have. You may also, like many people, think social media is emotionally draining and hard to manage. The beauty of owning your own business is you can use this strategy the way you want.

Of course, you can always hire someone to manage the social media content for your business. That’s definitely an option. But you can also decide to focus on one social media platform yourself instead of trying to master all of them at one time. Here are three factors to consider to help determine which platform(s) to use:

  • Which platforms do most of your ideal customers frequent?
  • Which platform is best for the type of content you want to use?
  • Which platforms are you already familiar with?

Again, you don’t have to try to master every platform. TikTok videos may not be your thing. It’s better to choose one or two where you can fully engage with your potential customers than be on all platforms with less activity.

Create a Solution-Based Website for Your Business

A solution-based website is the essence of your online presence. It gives you the opportunity to connect with your customers by putting what you have to offer directly in front of them.

Do you know what’s even better? A great SEO-optimized website means you don’t have to look for customers. They look for you! The first thing most people do when they have a problem and are looking for a solution is…Google it.

A strong online presence will help you gain and keep customers because you can inform, engage, and sell from your website. You may not be familiar with search engine optimization and writing content for websites. That’s okay! You can use a specialist SEO company that will make sure customers find you using quality content.

It’s best to have your own website in addition to a business page on social media because you can control what happens with your site. You can’t control what changes are made on social media platforms.

Build an E-mail List to Keep Your Customers Engaged

This method will probably take the most time because you will need to build an e-mail list as you gain followers. Building an e-mail list will allow you to convert followers to customers, offer additional products or services, survey your market, and stay in contact with customers after doing business with them.

The best way to build your list is to have multiple leads to a business website where you encourage potential customers to sign up for your e-mail list. It’s also helpful to offer something free to show that you can be useful to them.

You could offer a free how-to guide, e-book, or a monthly newsletter. You should make sure the person viewing your site sees the benefit in giving you their e-mail address. This is another way to build trust in your brand.

Final Thoughts

Now that you know three great ways to market your business as a tradesman, you can create a digital marketing strategy that works for you.  While working on your strategy, be sure to identify your competitors and search for them online to see what’s working for them.

What social media sites are they on? Do they have their own website? Do they engage with their followers? You can learn what works from what they are doing and adjust it to fit your plan. You’re good at what you do. Make sure your potential customers find you.
