The mattress has always been the center of attention when it comes to the topic of getting a good night’s sleep. Choosing a mattress is often the prime focus, and it is understandable. However, when the matter is about quality sleep or if you are in pursuit of a peaceful sleeping pattern, then your lash pillow should also get equal attention as the mattress does.

If your head has been resting on an uncomfortable pillow, then you may have been spending several nights struggling, or scrunching and folding it until it feels comfortable—it’s time for a new pillow.

What! Are you surprised to hear so much about pillows? Haven’t you ever given it a thought? Well, then let’s see further as to why does it matter.

A good posture is a prerequisite to sound sleep. It is the only key that will enable you to wake up without any pain or stiffness. Hence, for an appropriate sleep posture, you need to have a suitable pillow.

A good posture means that your entire body is in alignment; the knees and hips should sit well through the spine, followed by the chest and shoulders and of course, the head and neck. Speaking of this, if the neck and head don’t get enough support, then the chances are that you may encounter discomfort and sprain your neck or shoulders. Not only this, but you may even end up going through a sleepless night.

Now that you must be pretty clear about how important a role your pillow plays let’s dive into how you can choose the right pillow. There are several points you need to pay attention to while choosing a pillow. But before, if you like something colorful and decorative, you might like Bohemian Inspired Pillows for your home.

1. Determine Your Sleeping Position

It is very crucial to know your most preferred sleeping position. Some people like to sleep on their back while some prefer sleeping on their side. Some of you may even sleep on your stomach. So, know your sleeping position before you go pillow shopping.

It brings us to the next part! If you sleep on the stomach, then go for a reasonably flat, soft pillow. It will take your neck in alignment with your spine. For people who sleep on their backs, choose a thick pillow to support your neck. The same is for those who prefer to sleep on their sides.

2. The Thread Counts

If you want to know how durable a pillow is, then allow us to tell you a secret. Well, the higher the thread count, the plusher it will feel. However, to give you a standard idea, 20″ by 26″ is an ideal size for a pillow.

Its thread count is 300 and is considered the most cost-effective and comfortable option. If you are looking for a more luxurious pillow, then a pillow with a 500-800 thread count will be the best option. Other than this, if you want to spend like a king, buy a pillow of 1000 thread count.

3. The Fluffiness

It might sound a tad weird, but the looks could tell you a lot about the pillow. The fluffier the pillow, the more the comfort level. On the other hand, a flat pillow indicates that it can no longer provide comfort.

To test the fluff factor in a pillow, fold it in half, and assess whether or not it unfolds on its own. Other than this, you can also determine it by giving it a big, tight hug and see if it goes back to its fluffy self.

4. The Filling

If you like to feel protected and cuddled, then a pillow with a feather or malleable goose down will be the right choice. This material will keep you all warm and cozy against those chilly nights.

Speaking of quality, you can determine this by paying attention to an indicator called fill power. It refers to how much a pillow can be filled. The more it is, the plumper your pillow is going to be—double the comfort!

Other than this, there is the natural and organic latex, which is super breathable as well as does not catch any mites, mildew, or mold.

When you choose a filling, make sure that you don’t have any medical issues such as asthma or allergies. If you do, then you will need to be careful before picking out on a particular filling.

We hope the guideline above helps you make the right choice. Lastly, when you have decided on what you are looking for, make it a point to read a few reviews online about it. After all, no one likes wasting their hard-earned money.
