How to Keep Things Clean and Organized During Your Home Renovation

If you’re among the growing group that’s currently tackling a DIY home renovation, one of your concerns will no doubt be what you can do to minimize the mess and stress that a reno usually causes?

There are a few things, and one of the best is to keep things as tidy and organized as you can throughout the process. However, this is often easier said than done.

This guide will take you through some actions you can take—both big and small—to keep the mess to a minimum during your home renovation. Read on to find out everything you need to know.

Clear All Work Areas

Before you start, the first thing you’ll need to do is to clean any areas where you’ll be doing any work. This can seem tedious, but it will help to keep your belongings clean and unscathed throughout the renovation process.

You should try to clear away absolutely everything, from fabrics and furniture to light fittings and trinkets.

Tarps Are Your Best Friend

Throughout the renovation process, your most important tool isn’t going to be a hammer, or a paintbrush, or an electric drill. It’s going to be the humble yet oh so useful tarp.

Tarps can be used to cover features like fireplaces, shield large unmovable furniture, and protect floors from paint. You can also use them to block spaces off from one another, so dust and debris don’t spread into any place you wouldn’t want them.

Clean as You Go

Just like when you’re cooking in the kitchen, cleaning up as you go along is a good rule to have when you’re remodeling as well. Although you may not see the point in cleaning until everything is done, it will make for a much less arduous and drawn-out process.

It’s a good idea to look for a good dumpster rental service and have one on hand so you can get rid of anything you don’t need as you go along.

Label Your Boxes Meticulously

Here’s another tip that may seem like a lot of work at the time, but that you’ll thank yourself later for. When you’re packing away items for safekeeping, make sure you group alike things together, and label everything well. This way, when it’s time to unpack everything, you’ll be able to do it in no time at all.

Your Clean and Collected Home Renovation Guide

To many people, it seems a home renovation is going to be messy, and there’s no way of preventing that. But all it takes is a little planning and effort, you can make it a more tidy and organized experience. If you’re looking for more home renovation ideas, check out the rest of our site now.
