But regardless of this, every person selling their home wants to make sure that they are getting the best possible price for their home. And to do this, you might want to make some adjustments before you put your home up for sale.

Whether you’re ready to sell your home now or you’re simply thinking about the future, here are three inexpensive home renovations that will instantly make your home look more expensive.

Add Molding and Wainscotting

One thing that can make almost any home appear finer is to have molding and wainscotting placed strategically around the home.

For even the most novice of homeowners, adding some molding or wainscotting can easily be done. As long as you can evenly space and place pieces of wood and molding around the room, you can update the room to look much more luxurious.

This can be done on a weekend, depending on the size of the room that you’re working on. And by taking on this renovation, you can draw the eye to the places of the room that you intend and make the whole space look and feel much more expensive.

Update or Upgrade Your Lighting

To make your home appear more expensive and get people to be willing to pay more money for your home when you decide to sell, you’ll want to upgrade anything that was put in when the home was first built, especially lighting fixtures.

Nothing can date your home more than light fixtures. But while swapping out a light fixture can do wonders, updating the lighting for an entire room by adding recessed lighting can be an even more dramatic change. So, if you don’t already have recessed lighting, this might be something you’ll want to add.

Paint or Paper Your Walls

One of the most inexpensive yet impactful updates you can make to your home is to paint or paper your walls.

Both paint and wallpaper are both relatively cheap ways to drastically change the look of a room and make it appear like there’s been some real work done.

While painting a neutral color can help make the home appeal to more people, if you’re planning on staying in your home for a while but want to make it feel more luxurious to you, choosing a more dramatic paint color or wallpaper pattern can give the whole room a new look.

If you want to make your home look more expensive without having to spend a lot of money to do so, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you see how this can be accomplished.
